I totally forgot to submit my damn bracket to the Terps challenge. Great Idea, pissed I missed it. How about how crappy the big east looks. Almost lost to Davidson, UNC Ashville, and lost to Iowa State. I love it.
Now onto Terp basketball. There hasnt been a lot of information released yet about Turge's 2 day recruiting trip on Tuesday and Wed. Insidemdsports might have an article about it... so some of you might be privy. I dont pay for my info so Im not going to pretend that I know where he went, because that info has not leaked yet. I do know that Turge and Co were back in town last night to watch a few 2013 prospects. Josh Barr reported that they saw Stan Robinson, BeeJay Anya, and Kris Jenkins. While we might be casually showing BeeJay Anya interest I dont think that we should get our hopes up. It doesnt make any sense to add him, given the depth at PF/C. If we add a PF/C it will be a much more athletic forward. We dont need space eaters.
Stan Robinson continues to be our 1A target for a 2013 SG. Kris Jenkins is a very interesting player. I was skeptical of him at first given his size. The more I watch him the more I think that his size might be an advantage. He will not play PF in college but will rather be a tweener. His jumpshot will allow him to really succeed at that. Milbourne was successful at tweener for us, but I think Jenkins will actually put up better offensive numbers in his college career given his range.
I think the Million Dollar Question at this point is what does Cal do this offseason. Does he stay at Kentucky or does he jump to the NBA? If he jumps to the NBA the Terps become the favorite to land the Twins. Robinson, Jenkins, Jordan, Pookie, and all the rest dont really matter.
Its very encouraging that we are pursuing two different options. Rather than throwing all of our eggs into the twins basket, its clear that the staff has two options that involve elite players that FIT INTO OUR SYSTEM.
Other updates on 2012/2013 recruits
Pookie - was offered by Va Tech this week. I do not want to see him in a Hokie uniform.
Thaddeus Hall - considered to be a St. John's lean. As Bball pointed out, given the financial troubles of his family, it only makes sense for him to stay in the city so that his family is able to see his games.
Cassell - still thinking he lands at Uconn. Uconn this Uconn that over twitter.
Anyone else have any info to share?
