Terrapins junior Lexi Carroll, for the second time in her career, was named the conference’s Player of the Week. She went 8-for-13 (.615) in the Terps’ 5-0 sweep of Rhode Island, Kent State and Princeton last weekend.
Carroll manned the hot corner and made a spot start against the Tigers. Her four-hit, two-RBI day against the Rams led to a blowout 17-7 win. While she was shaky on the mound, her day at the plate, including a monstrous three-run home run, led to a comeback 10-6 win over the Tigers.
Carroll totaled seven RBIs on the weekend, an excellent bounce-back weekend for a Terps team that trudged to a 1-4 in Tuscaloosa the weekend before. The Terps (16-6) will head to Clearwater, Fla., for six games, including a Sunday afternoon exhibition with the Netherlands.
Lexi had a great weekend, and her value to the Terps isn't just the numbers in the box score. She's the leader on the field, firing up her fellow players, the first to congratulate Kendra Knight on a well-timed strikeout, and aggressive on every play. Congrats on the honor!
