Shaq left off of McDonald's All American Roster

The McDonald's All American Roster came out today and unfortunately our man Shaq was left off of the team. It would have been nice to get the recognition of having a recruit in the game, but with top 25 guards like the Harrison's and Jordan on our radar we may have another sooner than we think. The other notable snub was Mr. Robert Carter, who was the only top 25 player left out of the game.

Their whole lives are glorious black holes

or “glory holes”, if you will

Doubt, indulged and cherished, is in danger of becoming denial; but if honest, and bent on thorough investigation, it may soon lead to full establishment of the truth.

Silver lining

At least Borzello mentioned Cleare in the same breath as Carter. I’ll take that every day of the week. Of course everyone wants a future Terp in the AA game, but Cleare looks like a gem already, despite what voters for the AA game may think.

That's fine

We’ve never won a Natty with a Micky D’s All American on the team anyway

UNC had 5 AA's on the floor at 1 time last night

And they still lost. Shows how bad a coach Roy really is. But they still line up to get a scolly nevertheless. (Nate Britt)

not sure

losing to coach K and Austin Rivers on a last second shot qualifies as a terrible coach.

If you watched the last 5 minutes of the game...

you would not be questioning the total sucking nature of Roy Williams coaching.

But they lost to Duke

They also have a bunch of All Americans. They won bc of a great performance by one of those All Anericans. Roy Williams isn’t a bad coach. He gets talent, but part of coaching is blending that talent. UNC was struggling before he came to Chapel Hill. Can’t knock what he has done with the heels

Cleare was in a bad situation

Austin wasn’t going to be left off, neither was Ridley. It’s hard to justify putting in 3 players from the same state who play the same position. Those national voters want guys from their area in. I initially thought he had a good chance, but after looking at his hs competition, I changed my mind. He’s playing at a private school that doesn’t play anybody. And that’s really hard to do with all of the talented teams in and around Houston. The biggest snub wasn’t Carter or Cleare. Danuel House, a consensus top 15 player was left out of the game

wow

they put 6 bigs on the west roster. 4 PFs and 2 Cs with only 1 SF on the entire roster. Yeah, that is a big snub of Danuel House, but how would you deny the talent of the PFs on the roster that are ranked higher than him? I guess it would be easier to say “sorry there were already 3 PFs on the roster” though.

There is definitely some inequality between the rosters, I think they should of set standards for the amount of players for each position. The east roster has 3 SFs as opposed to the 1 SF for the west even though there was a 2nd SF that would qualify for the west ranked 17th.

Actually, just checked. Depending on where you look, Devonta Pollard is classified as a SF on some sites but the McDs game put him as a 4. That is a serious slap in the face to House since Pollard is ranked in the late 20s to early 30s on most sites.

Yeah I still don't get that one

ESPN ranks House as the 4th best SF, but Kyle Anderson is a PG, so House is technically the 3rd best SF. 2nd best in the West behind Muhammed. I don’t remember the last time a kid who played as well as House played against other top ranked guys was left out of the game. Last year they left Wroten out, but they could use injuries. No real reason for why House was left off, except maybe for the fact that he signed with Houston instead of a bigger name school.

I was thinking the Houston thing too

But didn’t Houston land another biggish name recruit this year too/

As much as I love Cleare....

and think he is going to be a beast……I did not expect him to make this game.
