Last road game of the season. Not sure if that qualifies as a milestone and/or as noteworthy, but whatever. More importantly: it's the JOHN HENSON REVENGE TOUR. Hack-a-Henson will be in full effect tonight, as it rightfully should be. I'm not that angry about the dunk anymore, but I still want Alex Len to give him a bump when he goes to the rim for the first time. Of course, the best thing would be winning, c'mon: that's not likely.
Anyway, game tips at 7:00 on ESPN. John Saunders and Dick Vitale Jay Bilas on the call. Yeah, I don't really get that pairing either. This at least makes sense, but it lets me take my Bilas hate to another level.
Random, Baseless Prediction: No blatant John Henson revenge foul, but he does get hacked a lot and goes 6-10 from the stripe. For Maryland, I'll say that Ashton Pankey has a bounce back game and looks decent matching up with Henson and/or Tyler Zeller, or at least as decent as someone can look given the final scoreline. He's due for a performance in which he shuts up some haters, or something.
Prediction: I'd kill for a Maryland win just because it'd be fun to play with the storylines tomorrow, but it's extraordinarily unlikely. UNC by 24, even though the Terrapins hold a second-half lead.
Guessing Game: Sean Mosley's final regular season road game as a Terrapin, against a team he's had some success in the past. Also, he tweeted this morning that last night was his first ever good night of sleep on the road. So I'm calling for a breakout, 20+ point performance. Give me Sugar Sean's points plus rebounds, with charges taken as the tiebreaker.

what Coach K and Duke were to Gary Williams. I really believe that MT will want to take down UNC more than Duke because of the relationship he has with Roy. Not saying that it will happen tonight but I think they played their best game against a quality opponent the first time against the Tar Heels. Gary’s teams always got up more and were more focused against Duke. I think it will be that way with Carolina from now on.

That’s probably robbed him of most of his explosiveness. Has much more lift than Padgett.
I guess the big reason I defend Pankey is because he’s better than Padgett at the same point, but no one was in favor of running James because he hardly ever played so we didn’t see his flaws and he was given time to develop.

Put any solid-passing PG on this UNC team, have them pass it every time they get the ball, and they’ll get 8-10 assists every game.
He is a very talented passer, but UNC is the second-most talented team in the country, and has two seven-footers to pass to.

Those programs are at a point where they just recruit themselves
People talk about how great a recruiter Roy is, but UNC and Kansas have always gotten great recruits.
For some, but not entirely
UCLA and Kansas being good examples. Self brought in three or four three-stars over the past three years, and UCLA hit a dry streak as well. Roy is riding Jordan’s coattails for sure, but he’s still a fantastic recruiter in his own right. Remember: he consistently lands elite talent over similarly advantaged schools.

Carolina has played really sloppy which is the only reason that Maryland is down 11.

They get around, and they talk to each other. It takes more than one year to build up that reputation.

about waiting for next year. Mark Turgeon has been teasing us for the last few weeks.

I like Padge and Parker,
Padge goes hard. He doesn’t completely understand the game or his own limitations, but the guy goes HARD. Battles for offensive boards like no other, tons of second chance points, and he will be a huge part of our team next year. Parker, if he can develop some fundamentals can provide quality minutes off the bench and with his athleticism, a few spectacular plays.
That is why I didn't say we would depend on Parker,
Padge has fundamentals, he just needs to be coached up, and he will be. I can’t wait to see how everybody that is hating right now feels about Padge next year, because I guarantee that a.) he will start, and b.) he will have solid numbers. Don’t get me wrong, watching him play this year can be painful at times (lack of post moves, black hole, etc.), but to say he won’t be a part of this team next year is ridiculous.
All I need is a Faust Dunk on Henson
And i’m happy with the rest of the season. Like Bilas said, we will be good

That we are even discussing the post season. I honestly didn’t expect anything this season, but I certainly didn’t expect to be talking about post season play. I thought we were going to have a slightly better record than BC and maybe GT. Other than that…overachieving.

that was terrible to watch but I gave up after that g tech loss anyway. And all I look for now is the future and Faust was impressive tonight. he is going to be good. I think parker will get more time next year and he will be good too.

Super athletic, obviously, but doesn’t do enough to create for himself. Faust is going to be sick. Hopefully Layman and Cleare are ready to contribute right away. Next year will be interesting. 2 years from now, and I think we’re going to be super pumped about our team
Well fouls sorta caught up. MD 25 UNC 20 but still very biased calling.....
We had 7 fouls within 5:40 seconds or so into the 2nd half….just amazing how that’s allowed to happen…but again….we’re in NC and that’s the way it goes down there … for at least the 30+ years I’ve been an MD fan.

I could see Faust playing football oddly enough,
he could make a solid receiver. Good height, big ups, relatively good speed and I’m willing to bet he has good hands.
Its that long run they made that really bothers me.
We disappeared for about four minutes. To me that is on Mark. We didn’t seem to make any adjustments like really slowing it down or going to a zone. Its a lot like the GT breakdown.

I hope something happens this off season or sooner in him. He has potential, but just seems content being on the court as role player. He doesn’t have Faust’s will to excel at this level, which is his main knock. He is more athletic than a lot of his opposition yet he plays with no confidence and doesn’t exploit it.

But after this game and well the whole season. I have no faith that Pankey can turn his game around or his attitude. He doesn’t go out there and simply play ball. He doesn’t seem to hustle and when he fouls or misses a point blank layup he pouts. Atleast Padgett is willing to hustle, even if he misses shots (he is a defensive liability. He has stone for feet). That can be developed, but Pankey…not so much. I think Turge sits him down after the season and asks him how much he wants to dedicate himself to basketball. If he doesn’t he will either transfer or Turge will let him go.

Everyone else is improving so much. Pankey seems to be regressing. He doesn’t play hard. He bitches after every foul called on him. He can’t hit a layup or a free throw when we need it. I just keep thinking about how in a normal year under Gary this kid Pankey would never sniff the floor. Gary wouldn’t play this kid ever…and yet he almost acts like he deserves his minutes under Turgeon. I know we don’t have any other choice but goddamn Pankey is terrible
