So there were some conversations in a previous post about the reputation of the ACC being down, so I went back and looked at the 2003-2004 season. Here's what I found
Final Standings
1. Duke- JJ Reddick,, Luol Deng, Chris Duhon, Shelden Williams (Final Four)
2. NC State- yes NC freakin State was second, Julius Hodge (Second Round)
3. Wake Forest- Chris Paul, Justin Gray, Erik Williams (Sweet Sixteen)
4. Georgia Tech- Will Bynum, BJ Elder, Jarret Jack, (Final Game)
5. UNC- Raymond Felton, Sean May, Rashad McCants (Second Round won title a year later)
6. Maryland (ACC Tournament Champions) (Second Round)
7. FSU (NIT)
8. UVA (NIT)
So 6 of 9 are in NCAAs, 8 of 9 play NCAA or NIT, 3 teams in top 10, 6 in top 25 at one time or another (the two that didn't make the top 10 that year, one was the ACC tourney champ (Maryland), and one made the National Title Game (GT), 6-0 in first round of NCAA, 3 in Sweet Sixteen, two in Final Four
2011-2012
two in top 10, four in top 25, probably only four in NCAAs, 7 maybe 8 of 12 play post season,
so yes, the ACC is down
