I see a lot of fans on here saying things that makes me think a sizeable portion of the fanbase EXPECTS a Harrison Twin signing in the 2013 class. Not only do I think this is an unrealistic expectation, but I think that it is going to lead to some unfair criticism of the recruiting class that Turge is likely to bring in.
The Twins are clear 1 and done talents. If I'm them, unless I have some strong emotional emotional connection to a school out there I'm going to go somewhere that is the best launching pad for the NBA. I love Maryland, and hate Kentucky and everything they stand for. But one thing that Coach Calipari has a long track record of is taking elite prospects and making sure they go pro. He can come in and say to the Harrisons, "D Rose, John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Tyreke Evans, Anthony Davis" all top recruits who he helped get to the league in one year. The Terps can say what? Steve Francis? That's reaching back quite a ways into the past.
So you'd have to think, just considering it logically that getting the Twins to college park would be a tremendous task considering UK is pushing hard and can point to a history of getting kids exactly like the Twins into the league in just one year.
But folks, a part of me would rather the Terps not pursue the Twins, especially if it's at the expense of pursuing other talented options in the 2013 class. Guys like Tyler Ennis and Rysheed Jordan really, really excite me and unlike the Twins they are definately going to stick around for more than one year. We are building a program, and while it'd be nice to land the Twins, 2013 is a DEEP recruiting class for PG options and from what I see 2014 is not so deep. You run the risk of having a brilliant run and then being right back at square one rebuilding. Now consiering the fact that the Twins could bring a NATTY home, that's probably a risk most of us are willing to take. But if they don't come, there are plenty of other solid options that deserve our praise.
If this sounds like it's meant to be a debbie downer, it's because it is. Expectations need to be kept in check as we are rebuilding. It'd be a tremendous, tremendous coup to get the Twins to MD. The fact that they continuously list MD is a testament to how good Turge and Spinelli and Bino have been on them. But let's not confuse that with being their top targets by any stretch.
I highly, highly doubt that the Twins ever matriculate to CP---hopefully Turge proves me wrong.
