As of this time last year we had three commits. After Gary retired all three de-committed. Faust was wooed hard and re-committed. The other two went separate ways: Gibbs to Texas and Breunig to Washington. Since the season is almost over it's interesting to see who has fared the best out of the three. The table below gives a statistical breakdown for the Class of 2011.
| Games Played | Games Started | Minutes | Points | Assists | Rebounds | |
| Faust | 28/28 | 17 | 26.9 | 8.0 | 2.1 | 4.0 |
| Gibbs | 26/29 | 0 | 7.8 | 2.7 | 0.4 | 0.7 |
| Bruenig | 19/28 | 0 | 6.2 | 1.5 | 0.2 | 1.2 |
Faust leads in every category. One could argue that much of the statistical advantage is a result of his getting more playing time, and that is due to Pe'Shon's injury and a lack of team depth. All of that would be true. But I'd argue right back that Faust's playing time could be taken up by Michael Parker if the latter were better and that Faust has played out of position for over half of these games. What's the most striking IMHO is the rebounds/game. Playing point guard Faust still racks up an amazing 4.0 rebounds/game.
Perhaps Gibbs and Breunig would have gotten more PT at Maryland. Perhaps Gibbs and Breunig will see their careers ascend after this year. But as of 2/26/2012 it looks like Faust is the best of the three.
