Lets Be Optimistic
Hi all this is my first fan post on TT. I want to bring up the chances of us playing postseason basketball this year. On ESPN's bubble watch we are mentioned along with UNC,Puke,UVA,NCST,FSU, and MIA. Apparently we are stil relevant for a bid. Worst case scenario we end up making the NIT which IMO isnt too bad for a team with no expectations. We still have many chances on our schedule to add to the CU and ND wins (both look respectable). We have UVA twice, UNC twice and Puke once. Also we could easily be in the cellar with teams like WF,VT,GT,BC, and perhaps even Clemson. We dont have any bad losses and that is something to keep in mind come tourney time. Im not saying were definitely a bubble team but were not completely out of the equation. We will keep improving and next year will be a complete different team. Go Terps!!!!!!!!

10% - We need to pick up a couple road wins somewhere
Terrence Ross absolutely took over in the second half against UCLA. Put on a show for anyone who was just watching that.
and lets go to Bentleys...

Terrence Ross transferred though...
Went back out west, rumor was that he was going to play with Terrence Jones at Washington until Jones went to Kentucky instead
NIT
At the start of the season I told myself I’d be happy with us improving enough to getting a NIT bid. Although my hopes shot up when Pe’ and Len joined and I dreamed a NCAA bid was attainable, I’ve tempered my expectations.
I’ll still be proud of this team if they get to the NIT. as Ben et al have mentioned, this team has been steadily improving. I feel the influx of talent we’ll be getting next year and in subsequent years, we will be enjoying a string of NCAA bids similar to the ones we had with Gary at the helm.

Who cares
Who cares about Terrance Ross? Is he a terp? No, so stop bringing him up in this board and go post it on a Pac 12 board! No one here rally cares about him.
I like watching college basketball in general
and it’s just interesting to see what other players that the Terps had previously recruited hard are doing with their careers. I don’t only watch Maryland basketball and I didn’t know this site was only for making Maryland related sports comments. I didn’t make a post about it.

I actually thought you post was interesting
as I really don’t have time to watch many other BB games beyond the Terps. Folks get upset when others mix in Skins & Ravens with their Terps posts. Some folks get REALLY upset when you mention RE on a BB thread. Heck, they get upset when you mention anything negative about RE on an RE related thread. Thanks for the post.

AND.
his mommy doesn’t want us talking about him – she even emailed me, asking me to stop teasing. lmao

Ok, here's my little bit of optimism.
I think 9-7 in conference is attainable and, really, not all that unreasonable. Here’s how it could play out:
First, we beat all the teams left on the schedule who are roughly on our “tier” – this means Clemson, BC, and Miami at home, GT on the road. That brings us to 7 wins.
We split with Virginia, most likely with the home win. That’s 8 wins.
We win one game out of the three remaining with UNC and Duke. For some reason, UNC at home this weekend just feels like a possible upset. But that would brings us to 9 wins, with two wins over ranked teams.
It’s still a long shot, but I don’t think anyone would be especially shocked if it played out this way.
5 PERCENT CHANCE at best
For relative comparison,
50 percent chance stock market rises this year.
100 percent chance random duke fan is a DOUCHE.
00000.2 percent chance monkeys will ever fly out of my ass ( goes up to 1.35 percent chance after eating Mexican food from street vendor FYI )
Hopeful no one reading post while eating breakfast……

Which street vendor?
There used to be a place on Rte. 1 in CP called the Terrapin Taco House which served some of the foulest, albeit cheapest fare near campus. My first dorm had a rule “Do your #2 elsewhere if you’ve eaten at the Terrapin Taco House,” printed up and hung in the john. Maybe others remember it; it was next to a gas station with the unfortunate name of “Homoco.”
My buddy had a picture of Len Bias pumping gas with the Homoco sign in the background.

I remember the Terrapin Taco House
but never ate there….and it sounds like that was a wise decision. I do recall HOMOCO too and had many a giggle each time I drove by. Route 1 has changed dramatically since then. I don’t even recognize it as I drive towards the south side of campus. Very weird.
I lived in Charles South dorm and I understand it’s no longer there. Fun times though back in the 80s.
GO TERPS!!
Oh yeah
I remember Terrapin Taco. I was younger though and had intestines of steel and didn’t have a problem. If I ate that stuff now though…

Terrapin Taco was right next to Starlight
I remember you could see the dancing girls at Starlight through the drive-in window. Even we were were underage and knew we’d get carded and denied buying beer, we’d pull up and have a few guys in the backseat craning their necks to get a peek in the window. Good times. Now that site is just another high-rise along Rt 1……
If we swept UVA and beat either Duke or UNC
Our resume would be a lot better. We’d still need an 8-8 finish in the conference and probably a win or two in the conference tourney though
After that loss to Miami,
We stand no chance. As optimistic as I want to be, at this point there’s a better chance we lose games to teams we should beat (BC, GT), than beat teams we should lose to (VA, Duke, UNC). Sucks to lose Mosley, but if one of Faust/Parker/Layman can step up big next year we’ll be a much better team with legitimate NCAAT hopes.
