Baseball Terps

So tonight was opening night for our baseball terps at #14 UCLA. After a great pitching duel and some great defensive plays by both teams, the score was 0-1 UCLA going into the top of the ninth. Bases loaded and one out, Cleary gets hit to bring in a run tying the score at one. Alfredo Rodriguez then drew a walk with the bases loaded to take the lead. Jimmy Reed closed out the game with a solid ninth inning to give the terps their first win of the season. Now I know that baseball season is really long, but this game is absolutely massive. Our pitching was excellent and our defense got the big plays when they needed them. Although it was not a slug fest, many of the terps batters had great at bats through out the games working counts and drawing walks. Our team also showed a lot of heart to keep fighting until the last out. The UCLA radio announcers were actually quite high on Maryland this year saying that they are talented and have one extra year of experience than they did last year which could make them a dark horse in the ACC. I encourage everyone to listen to tomorrows game at 2 pm (EST) as it is sure to be an exciting. Let's go terps!
