Chick says Danny Gone - 11:45 am
Well Chick let it out - I bet he's plugged in for sure this time to not screw it up. With CJB at the helm, how will our offense look next year operating in a Pro-set morph that Lox wants to run? I think we'll be fine with the talent at RB/WR/TE - we've got a solid core. Hopefully, the OL will finally stay healhty for an entire season. We can only hope for health - that and extra conditioning/good luck.

It's part of the athletics news conference
WAPO Maryland Insider and others are also tweeting that DOB, Garcia, and Mario Rowson are transferring. Garcia wants to be closer to home, and Rowson wants to play DB instead of LB.
Edsall says DOB told him he wasn’t “all in” with the program. Personally, I wish DOB nothing but the best and hope he gets a chance to play at another high-level program.
And if anyone knows how we got Diggs when his host was halfway out the door, please let me know.
Cj with diggs sounds ok with me. If we are going to run plays designed within the limits of our players, cj’s legs and short passes to diggs in open field sounds good to me

Impact Diggs
Does this impact Diggs or any of our other offensive recruits at all?
by Brendan Plutschak on Feb 13, 2012 12:03 PM EST reply actions
LOI's are in
They aren’t going anywhere.
If you are referring to on the field, possibly. I have to think at least a little part of Diggs is happy with this because it makes it more likely he’ll be getting some running touches in the option, but having DOB throwing bombs to you probably sounded pretty good as well.
LOI
Hasn’t stopped others from transferring
by Brendan Plutschak on Feb 13, 2012 12:10 PM EST up reply actions
Well....yea it has
These are RE recruits we are talking about. The players who are jumping ship are Friedgen recruits. I seriously, seriously doubt that any of this years recruits want out of their LOI less than a week after signing it. DOB leaving isn’t really a shocker. They knew there was a good possibility he might leave when they committed.
CJB and 2 true freshmen
Spring ball and fall camp should definatly be more interesting
So if the true freshman aren't here for spring ball,
is it just CJ Brown and a couple of walk-ons for now?
someone correct me if i'm wrong but
i’d say yes that’s what we’ve got
Im not so upset
The All Brown backfield+Diggs+Reid+pickett is a pretty dynamic, unpredictable, potentially awesome offense
CJ is included
hence all “Brown” (Wes and CJ) backfield
Could be fun
I’m legitimately interested to see what Locks does with the tools we have. Clearly not the best QB in CJ but we have a legitimate #1 threat and a very good 2nd receiver for the ACC in Dorsey. CJ may not be a great passer but if they are going to pack the box with 8 guys to stop the run (Brown, Brown, PIckett, Reid) then we have 1v1 coverage for both Diggs and Dorsey with only one safety over the top. I’d venture CJ knows what to do with that….
Also have a good TE situation.

Lots of potential
While it may not be a “normal” offense in the sense of what we are used to (which at this point might be 2 different QBs in 2 completely different, contradicting schemes), but I think this offense could be a blast to watch and a nightmare to prepare for…

The thing that hurts the most (to me)
I still remember the joy I felt in the 2010 season. It had been many years since we had a QB where we could say ’That’s our guy. That’s our starter. He’s going to lead the team this year and next.’ Last year in the Spring was the first time in a while where QB wasn’t a big question mark going in to the season. Of course, then the 2011 season actually happened. It’s just such a huge disappointment to have a big question mark at that position.
I know that CJB showed flashes, and will most likely be the starter come opening day, but he’s not quite a guy that you can have a huge amount of faith in (yet.)
Word Is
Meyer called Diggs to tell him DOB was leaving before Edsall did. Meyer would sell out his family for a 5-star recruit.
who was telling Meyer DOB was transferring lol
by tmoneyttime1 on Feb 13, 2012 12:21 PM EST up reply actions
I Guess
Meyer heard it thru his own intel, I have a cohort who is a Meyer homer and he texted me at 11:30AM today and said DOB was officially out and Meyer had personally called Diggs to relay that info to him before Edsall did. Regardless, just a classless act on Meyer’s part.

I mean
he once told a kid that God told him he would be coaching him. Whether you believe or not that is ridiculous.
by MurlandTerps on Feb 13, 2012 12:26 PM EST up reply actions
Whats funny if this is true
Is that Edsall didnt tell Diggs….either he didnt know before Meyer or he kept it quiet…either way Edsall is douche
I'm not sure
why Edsall’s first priority would be to get on the phone and call recruits who have already signed their letters of intent.
This would have happened before Diggs signed his LOI
Or are you asserting that Meyer is still in contact with Recruits AFTER their LOIs are in?
Haha, I wish.
So if it’s last week, we’re just talking about the rumor and not the official decision.
So you are surprised the guy who isn’t directly involved in the situation is the first to call Diggs while the guy who has to figure out the situation directly with DOB didn’t beat him to the punch?
so
If he doesn’t want to be here then leave, so what. I’m not upset at all with someone who doesn’t want to be here leaving! Hes a good player but he had his struggles and he played horrible this year. It always hurts to lose starters but you can’t have people on a team that aren’t committed. go Terps. Diggs Diggs Diggs. Brown Brown Brown. Reid Reid Reid
Now is the time to magnanimous.
It hurts, but we can’t be classelss. I definitely with DOB the best, and hope by midseason Caleb Rowe is dropping bombs after CJB proves he can’t throw the ball more than 3 feet accurately lol jk I hope CJB does well.
Still makes no sense
Locks on board. Diggs on board. With Danny, Maryland legitimately could have competed for the Atlantic title in two years.
F-YOU Edsall!!
After 25 players turn in their UMD schollys I am tired of hearing its just because they just dont want to develop into fine young men
Well
a large extrapolation by you, and

Not this again.........
This whole haters thing is way overdone. We were all haters when we pointed out JWill had no business leaving early, only to be proven right. I was a hater when I said how bad last season was going to be, only to be proven right.
There are always people that leave during post changes, but 25 is excessive especially when some of them are your best and probably hardest working players. This isn’t about a post change, it’s about good people seeing what worked being thrown out the window so that a single man of ego can impose his “my way or the highway” approach. He wants his name on everything so that if we ever succeed he can take all the credit for it.
Its OK to have a differing opinion, especially when there is evidence to support that opinion. Kicking someone to the curb by calling them “haters” is unjustified. If I hate anyone it is because I don’t see the need for our program to have gone through this in the first place. Its not personal, its business.
Calling a steaming turd a rose doesn’t make it so. This sucks. Period.
Fear the Turgle!
TerpFanMA wrote 25 transfers
25 transfers NYTerp – the guy was just waiting to spew out Edsall hate again.
I don’t like DOB transferring either. But he, like other Ralph recruits, has his reasons for why he’s transferring. Yes, RE is part of the reason. But a failed attempt at the spread with Crowton played a big part too.
All I know is TerpFanMA has posted nothing on Diggs except to say he alone is not getting us to the promised land (no fooling). Nothing good commented on about that, and then spewing hate towards Edsall. From the guy who spewed hate at Ralph. I’m not wrong about his M.O. I’ve seen it for over 4 years including WaPo board.
He’s a hater – a hater of any joy in Terps sports – And I’m standing by it. until I see a pattern otherwise – I’ve seen it for 4 years+.
And if I see RE and his teams performing the same way as last season, I will have formed an opinion about him and his teams. Until then, I’ll weight things out on both sides.

Fair enough. I don't follow what TerpFanMA has said prior...
If he’s just all hate all the time for no reason….well….
I was no fan of Ralph’s either but I am a firm believer you don’t replace worn tires with worn tires. I never supported the Edsall hire. We might do better this year but I think it will be in spite of him, not because of him. I would attribute any future success to the assistants and to the recruits Locksley is getting us.
I guess I have formed an opinion of Edsall based on his prior history at UCONN and am unwilling to wait and see him provide similar evidence at MD.
Fear the Turgle!
no support for 25 transfer - his post was over and became lying hate

TerpfanMyAss
Wasn’t he previosly know as Terpfan2005 with all the nasty bs that went with that? But he has a voice and after losing DOB, everyone has to vent or implode. Maybe he gets a pass……….. TODAY!!!.. LOL

It's fine
I’m not happy either. It’s just that I had like at least 25 posts on Stefon coming here – that was and is EXCITING news.
Maybe Terpfan MA was MIA from Friday through this morning on a deserted island. I want to see a shred of positive vibes and happiness about that posted from him.

We need to invite TerpfanMIA to a little get together and beat the shit out of him……… JK!!!… He’s venting!
by TwerpsNoMore on Feb 13, 2012 3:51 PM EST up reply actions
We all vented at one point (or two or three)
during last season. How could we not. But venting as in a volcano means a release of steam, right? But venting 24/7? It’s a supervolcano with non-stop negative vibe. Terps are going to have a sports ice age with all the hate spewing from his crater mouth – lol

yeah, well...
In 100 years of UMD football, there has only been 1 coach with a poorer record than Edsall….sorry if you love the guy but it is clear the ones who know him best can see he is a fraud….and no I am not talking about the recruits who only saw him in his sales “this is my dream job” mode
you hated Ralph too -
I saw what you posted about Ralph through the years – hating him and the Terps for over 4+ years. You’re a black hole for any joy in Terps’ sports.

In Locks I trust
DOB was fun to watch his first year and not so much last year. You got to expect that he had time and opportunity to talk with Locks and his plan for a new Maryland O. Locks is going to run the ball and CJ is a better QB in that system. It is what it is. Don’t understand Garcia and Rowson but I’m not ready to blame Edsall for circumstances I don’t know anything about.
For what it's worth ...
I spoke w/ a few players at the f-ball dinner after the Miami game. DOB was apparently drawn to MD by Franklin; Franklin sparked something in DOB and they connected on all of the massive preparation, understanding the big picture, etc; Remove that connection/support and the rocky road DOB hit was more difficult…; In a perfect world, the new regime might be able to recognize and adjust, but at the end of the day, it is a business. Best wishes to DOB for sure; he’s a good kid.
I'm not a Edsall hater and believe in the " My way or the Highway" theory........
The transition is not going as smooth as we in TerpNation desire it to and the Highway is getting very crowded. But my tickets renewal form came today and I am all in……….. Datshrite!!!
doin' it
Gotta support the team!

Just a matter of time before Jalen Tabor reclassifies to 2012
and comes to play QB for us in the fall.
Ben said DOB will graduate this year and be a grad student with a year of eligibility
Why does he even need to be officially transferring from UMD? He can go wherever he wants next year if he has graduated. Doesn’t that make sense?
Only If
He can only go if they have a grad program that Maryland doesn’t offer. Obviously this is possible but I don’t know if he really wants pass up on a free grad degree to transfer when he can sit out and get it anyways (in something he is interested in). He probably realizes the NFL is not likely and therefore school is important.
