There is an article in the Baltimore Sun (a former IMS post) about Abu's recruiting - see link at the very end of this. Much of the post leads me to believe that MD will be a great fit for Abu and vice-versa. He is a very humble guy, doesn't like the attention from recruiting, wants to work on improving his game (his production does not yet match his potential), academics and athletics are both very important to him, he wants a place with great coaches and great teammates and so on.
However, his coach says he will want to go to a place where the school is stable in its league. At first I thought nothing of this... but MD will be brand new to the B1G. While I think their membership in the B1G is a very stable situation, will recruits see it that way? It can be argued there is not a more stable league than the B1G, but MD will be a brand new member.
My thought is the schools in question from a stability standpoint are those in leagues with uncertainty, and that MD is a very solid choice because they are switching to the B1G. I know the subject of whether the B1G would be a positive or negative from a recruiting standpoint has already been discussed. However, I'm not sure if the stability aspect has been discussed. I'd love to land Abu! I think he would fit right in and be a great contributor, a good, unselfish team player.
Do you have any thoughts?
Hey, it is a very slow time new-wise... I am BORED. So I thought I would throw this out there.
