First off, great effort displayed by Maryland tonight. Wasn't their best game but to come out in the second half like that against a very talented Kentucky team and have a shot at winning even though they were horrendous shooting from midrange on out was impressive and great to see. Got #Terps trending on Twitter so people were taking notice as Maryland definitely surprised people tonight.
Definitely have to be excited for this season to watch this team because they will be in every game pretty much. Len lived up to the hype of being a potential top 10 pick, Mitchell was banging down low for crucial rebounds, and how about Allen and Layman? Both hitting key 3-pointers in the second half and stepping up. Well needed considering Howard and Faust had subpar games taking horrible shots. No way Howard should be taking that last shot after Layman set a beautiful pick to knock out the Kentucky player creating an opening for someone. Turns out Layman and Aronhalt were both open and both are better 3-point shooters than Howard.
With that last part being said brings me to this question, who is in the starting five for the next game? I don't see how Allen and Layman don't get more playing time at least and even think Allen played himself into a starting role. He made great decisions and can flat out play. It is only one game (I didn't get to see the scrimmage) but I would start from one to five respectively, Allen, Wells, Layman, Mitchell, Len. It is a lineup that is athletic and able to get tons of rebounds for second chance opportunities.
In the end, a loss is a loss but if there is such a thing as a good loss tonight was a perfect example of one. Definitely have confidence in this team to make it to the tournament now. In Turge we trust! Fear the Turtle!
