They announced the field for the NCAA Tournament today. Maryland is the 7/8 team in the nation. They were the second best team in the ACC, and played for the ACC Championship. They were given a 4 seed. That means that they were the 13-16 ranked/seeded team. They were placed in the same bracket as the #1 team in the nation Stanford. If they make it past the first two rounds at home, if the seeding stand, they would go to Stanford, past them would be San Diego State, then the Final Four also in San Diego. Every other 4 seed was placed close to home-Maryland was sent across the country, and placed in the same bracket as the #1 seed, so you can assume they were seeded #16. Maryland the #2 team in the ACC, but were seeded 6th. FSU was a #1 seed, who beat Maryland, and spent most of the season as #1. The first #2 seed was UVA, who split with Maryland, but beat them for the ACC Championship (I'm ok with both of these so far). The other #2 seed was UNC, who Maryland beat, and who lost in the first round of the ACC tournament. I think they got the seed based upon there name/reputation. #3 seeds were Wake and Duke, who Maryland beat both twice once in the regular season, and again in the tournament. They open against Stoney Brook, then take on either Denver or Colrado College.
