Gang,
I'm seeing lots of posts all over the place now about how us and PSU will be rivals when we join the bigten. I'm not so sure. Wouldn't it seem more likely, or at least, possible that it could be Rutgers? I mean all 3 of us are geographically close and sorta border states (Does Delaware count?). Wouldn't you think they will pair up PSU with an already current big ten member as there is a bit more history/tradition there already.... and also our football "footprint" is so much smaller then PSU, it might seem like a better economic decision to pair up PSU with one of the "haves".
In the big ten (which I've never really followed before) how do the rivalries break down? Clearly its not by division because Ohio State and Michigan are rivals and they are east and west divisions. As I understand this is likely to be the breakdown:
West: Illinoi, Iowa, Michingan, Mich. State, Minn, Nebraska, Northwestern
East: Indiana, MD, Oh.St., PSU, Purdue, Rutgers, Wisconsion.
Now from my limited knowledge of big ten:
Oh. St. / Michigan
Indiana / Purdue
Illinois
Iowa*
Minn
Nebraska*
NW
Mich. Stat*
PSU*
Rutgers
Wisconsion*
Well, I'm really not sure of the rest ;) But The "*" are football "haves".
I think its more likely they keep the "*" together. Though I would love it to be Indiana or Mich. State (cause the spill over to bball)....
But I dont see us getting PSU... am i crazy?
