Maryland Terrapins-N.C. State Wolfpack GameThread: Hills Injured, Terps Trail at Half, 10-3

UPDATE:

Halftime in College Park and the big news is that freshman QB Perry Hills was injured trying to make a tackle on an interception return. Hills was down on the field for several minutes while training staff worked on his left leg. Hills was unable to put any pressure on the leg and if I had to venture a guess, I'd say it was a knee injury, possible of the ACL/MCL type, unfortunately. I'd be shocked if we say Hills back in the game today and would worry about his return in the immediate future. Just my pure speculation on that, we haven't received any word in the press box about his status.

Beyond that, Maryland trails 10-3. NC State's offense was struggling for most of the game but in the 2nd quarter ignited and scored 10 unanswered points and wen from 18 net yards of offense in the 1st half to 156 by halftime.

Maryland struggled protecting Hills in the 1st half, allowing NC State to sack Hills four times and often times only putting 3 lineman in against Maryland and still generating pressure. State's game plan seems to be to drop additional defenders into coverage because they know they can get pressure on Hills with just 3 d-linemen.

Kickoff of the 2nd half will begin momentary. Check back for additional updates. -Dave T.

Here it is. Homecoming. Big crowd expected. Relevant football. Win this one, and who the hell knows where this season goes.

Kick at 3:30 on ESPNU.

Beat the Wolpfack.

Random Baseless Prediction: A) Wes Brown will play. B) Matt Furstenburg gets back to his touchdown-catchin' self.

Prediction: I picked State in the preview, which if you haven't figured out by now is my "real" prediction. But screw that, it's a GameThread and I don't pick State normally so I won't pick them now. Maryland 31, State 17.
