Jake Layman is in the class that I TA. The students have computer access which means that they have access to all of the interwebs. I tend to be a bit of a stickler when it comes to having too high of a surfing/classwork ratio, and I'm more so for athletes as they tend to have academics low on their priorities. As I walked around the classroom, I noticed Jake was just staring at his screen--often an indication that no work is being done--so I decided to confront him.

Upon looking at his screen, I realize that he's watching highlights of the MD vs Duke game from 2002. Needless to say, I allowed him to continue surfing after jokingly asking him if he was working on his Duke-hatred. The next time I walk around, he's watching old coverage of after we had just beat Indiana to win the Natty. We then proceeded to talk about that '02 team and just how awesome they were. Jake seems to be a true Terp and is good case for recruiting multi-year players over one-and-dones.
