Meet your future SG (HOPEFULLY)... Rip Hamilton meets Steve Francis
I was hoping one of the guys was going to put this video on the front page, but I guess a fanpost will have to suffice. Meet Stan Robinson, the newest 2013 SG to receive an offer from MD. ESPN and other services classified Stan as a slasher. Some on this site, based off those reviews, were hesitant to add that type of player, as we already have similar ones. I think the video below should clear up those notions.
This kid is ranked a 4 star at the moment and is the type of player that we need to grab before he explodes, because he will. Currently he is 47th in the nation. I think he shoots up another 15-20 spots by the time it is all over. Watch the video and see for yourself. He has a mid range game very similar to a young Rip Hamilton but can finish above the rim like Stevie use to do for us.... the best part about it... HE IS LOCAL. This video was released yesterday.
Give me Raysheed Jordan and Stan Robinson and Im thrilled for 2013.

Kid is nasty.
looks like he plays with a real “do him” attitude. I love the emotion. Kind of reminds me of Stoglin or G. That Alley at the end is dirty. I love his mid range jumper the most personally.

Looks good
Just seems like he has a weird shooting form but hey if it goes in who cares. The highlight video reminds me a good bit of Torian Graham but he looks a little more athletic. Definitely would be a good get.

let's just stack this team with lefties
that would give bob knight so many opportunities to compliment our players for finishing with their left hand, only to realize an hour later that they actually are lefties!

I thought the same thing
It can sometimes throw off opposing teams, especially if we have 3 guards that are lefty on the floor at one time! lol wow-that would be unique.
Lefty Driesell, Lefty Stogs, Lefty Allen, Lefty Robinson, who would be next?

Saw you tweet this last night..
I would absolutely take this kid in a heartbeat and I hope he takes our offer to stay home. I have been longing to have some good athleticism on this team for years. The fact that he’s a local kid and could possibly open up pipelines to a DMV powerhouse is just icing on the cake.
So do we get this kid and forget about the Harrisons?
I wonder if we pick this kid (big IF), would that mean we give up on the Harrisons? I haven’t seen the video yet (at work now) but I’d hate to miss out on the H twins (or should we refer to them as the WONDER TWINS….wonder twin powers activate…shape of Michael Jordan, form of…LeBron James).
Plus we don’t even know if we bring in another guard for 2012 yet so hard to say what or who we’ll go after for 2013. I’m for picking up the best we can ad if Robinson IS the best we can get, then yes go for it. But if we are still in the running for the Harrisons, I’d like to see if we can get them here. Either way………
GO TERPS!!!
we can bring in both
We have to realize that there are not too many all or nothing propositions unless there are 2 top 25 players at one position for a given recruiting year. So much changes year to year (one and dones, players growing into a different position/role), that an up and comer will worry about being a 6th or 7th man.
I want to get used to the fact that more and more players are going to sign on, knowing full well there are other players, maybe even at their position, who are rated higher than them – but they still want to play at MD. jmtc

agree with that logic
but this might be the case where there are two top 25’s at the same position. I really think Robinson will climb up the charts another 15 spots and likely finish around 30-35. Man I am ready for these kids to starting committing. It was around this time last year that Justin Anderson verballed to MD. Things should start to happen in the next 2 months.

shhhhhhhhhhhhh Charlotte – not tooooo loud….
btw – I meant to say will not worry in my post

This.
Just as the Harrisons aren’t afraid of competition, I don’t see the Harrisons coming here as a reason to “detract” recruits. They’ll realize the Harrisons are here for two years at most and they’ll get the playing time they want.
SSM2
Reminds me of Sean Moseley. Not nearly as athletic as the Franchise. He looks like he is barely making a couple of those oops by the tips of his fingers. His shot is kind of like Sean’s too. Kind of slow but pure release.
I think he is more athletic than Mosley
But I agree he doesn’t have hops like Francis. Not many do.

Did anyone else read
Last week that this kid Robinson was waiting on an offer ( Terps) and he got it and is now happy. I could have swore I read that someplace and now I cant find it?? Anyone else see that ?? Help a brother out,,lol. I don,t have the time to research it.
If that is what I read and it was this kid, gotta be good news!
I recall that as well
MD has been involved for months and I think there was a quote from his coach stating that Stan was waiting for them to offer.
by Charlotte NC Terp on Jan 31, 2012 10:49 AM EST up reply actions
Here is the quote
"They haven’t offered yet but the head coach was out here," Robinson said. “I talked to [Hill] also. I saw them play some against N.C. State. I think they’ve got a good team and some nice pieces to be good in the coming years.”

Turge really wants this kid
He was at that whale of a Dematha-PVI game the other night…Robinson and his team took down #1 on a last second shot.
Poo on dematha
Give me Stan! Dunk at the end shows his ups! Gonna be really good next year

Since John Wall's first pro game
Every Dougie I see is weak compared to John’s
doubt this kid shoots up in the rankings
and the steve francis meets rip hamilton is beyond a stretch. But i’ll take just about anybody right now
always negative
I dont think its beyond a stretch. His mid range jumper is very fluid. He can attack and finish above the rim. What is Hamilton known for… mid range game. What is Francis known for… attacking the rim. Robinson’s game looks to be a mix of the 2.
Wait until he goes off on Nate Britt and Gonzaga tonight… then I bet you will be whistling a different tune. At #47 overall there is no reason he cant shoot up another 10-15 spots. Given the team he plays for (HS & AAU), his location, and the school recruiting him…. no reason at all he cant finish around #30 overall.

Yep
this kid is a must get, and he is a lefty, one thing i love about him. Is I rarely see him standing. He i alwayd running the floor and move with and without the ball on offense. From the 3 games I have seen, I really think this kid is must get. But PVI is just so dang talented, If you live in the area they are must see bball.

I'm trying to get there 2nite w/ my son
i’ll report back…I think your thinking is very plausible. That kind of quickness is not smopke and mirrors – I’ll see especially going vs. Gonzaga 2nite.

Thanks for reporting back, your 2 assignments:
1. How does he compare to Britt (if Britt plays)?
2. Can Kris Jenkins play for us?
nah i still disagree
will he be clearly screens to shoot midrange jumpers, i’d say no. This kid reminds me of the guard that goes to Arizona Kevin Parrom who’s a good college guard nonetheless. I’d rather get the kid out of philly rysheed jordan.
Rysheed Jordan kinda reminds me of John Wall
No outside shot…

Another lefty
Always love the lefties. Most young college players always try to make everyone go left, it’s tough for them to deal with the quick lefty breaking them down.
We should have two "A" plans for 2013
1. Sign the Harrison twins
2. Sign stellar SG and PG
This would be Robinson and our choice of the best PG we can find
Either plan will work to get us back to the top.
McDonalds All Americans
Here is a list of all the McDonalds All American nominees. Layman and Cleare made the list (old news I know) but here is the complete list. The amount of players from Oregon was kind of shocking… as well as the number of players from Oak Hill. They went 6 deep I believe.
