2012 bball recruiting
Do u guys think that turgeon will add another person to the 2012 basketball recruiting class or will he stick with what he has?
If so is he leaning more towards amile jefferson jordan goodman or someone less highly regarded like a sam cassell jr
I saw kris jenkins of gonzaga in person and despite being an obese kid he is one heck of a baller i think if he grows the terps should definetly take a look at him

Jefferson has been out of it for awhile now.
Charles Mitchell and Darrick Wood are two definite options.
And maybe if we find another overseas prospect we could go after him. We’ve averaged 1 per class over the last 4 years (Len, Palsson, Weijs, Kim/Choi)

2012 True Point Guard
We really need a true point guard in the 2012 class. Seth maybe a help, but we could use a true point guard that is capable of helping immediately. It may be difficult at this point to get one, but it would really set us up for potential run next year.
This is my #1 concern for next year
’Pe is an average PG at best. We have no other elite ball handlers. Maybe Turge can pull out another Juco Stevie Francis, since no one else is on our 2012 horizon right now.

HA!
Pe’ can be much better than an average PG… The dude is only in his second season AND is coming off a foot injury; cut the kid some slack!
Two years from now, if Stogs is still around, people will be saying MD has one the best guard combos in the country. Just a prediction.
Still...
Agree with the sentiment that upperclassman Pe’ will be better than underclassman Pe’—that’s a given for just about everyone. Still, we really should have someone with at least 1-2 years experience under their belt to take over when he leaves to avoid a huge dropoff. The next 2 years should be wonderful as long as Stogs is with us, but we need the PG depth and someone waiting in the wings to take over.
I predict
in 2013 and/or 2014 recruiting class, the staff comes up with a 6’10" or bigger player. Overseas is the place to go. Alex was lurking the whole time earlier this year, and we narely heard a peep. Same thing will happen again, somehow, some way. Or it may be a guy that is here for 1 year in HS. Watch

PS - narely will get accepted one day by Merriam Webster - hardly for now - he he he

Jefferson and Goodman? Definately not either of those two. Mitchell & Nolan are out as well. Our 2012 options are: Wood, Cassell, & the Monroe JUCO pair… and I wouldnt even place either (JUCO) very high on that list. I personally think the incoming staff is content with adding Shaq and Layman as fowards and wants one more guard for 2012. I think we add one more player and save the extra scholarship for 2013.

yep
smooths out the recruiting cycles a bit too. I like your scenario Charlotte – most likely too.

Where did you see Mitchell is out?
The last I heard was that he was taking his officials in late January into February and the quote from him that he definitely would be taking one to MD.
I haven’t heard anything on the Nolan front in months though so I’d say that has probably gone cold. However…I’d take a pure PG or another big in this class if a quality one is available. Allen is more of a 2 even though recruited at the point, and he’s been injured a lot between summer and fall which has hindered his development of point skills. He was supposed to play the point this season for his HS team to improve his skills at the position was what I last read
I didn't think he was
was trying to figure out if Charlotte had any additional information on it. Last I heard was his direct quote that Maryland was “definitely” getting an official visit
won't happen
Unless Layman is a lights out shooter they’ll utilize Allen as a backup at the 2 spot, since it appears that we’ll see a rotation of Parker and Faust at the 3. Even if Faust moved back to the 2 to allow for more playing time to Layman, I think we’d see Seth see backup minutes at the point unless Turge plans on using Stoglin as the primary backup since he has Faust to come in behind him.
I hope Layman is a legitimate player
Having a tall 3-man can be so crucial in college basketball. 3 6’8’’+ guys on the floor at the same time could do wonders.
Allen won't redshirt unless he gets hurt
We need some depth at the 1/2 spot, and redshirting really wouldn’t do him any good anyway. It looks like we’re going to be bringing in at least one 1/2 guard in the 2013 class, and hopefully, that player (or players) will be very highly rated. Redshirting would just put him behind and logjam the position.
