Big 12 looking at 5 ACC teams plus ND
What's up with this info that is now spreading around with the Big 12 looking to expand to 14 or 16 teams. FSU and Clemson are the main 2 in talks with the Big 12 but also Maryland and BC are supposedly also part of this scenario. ND would be enticed to join and the payout for each school could be approximately 40 million per school. Caught me by surprise until Friday when it began spreading around.

That first article describes MD as a football school
Loses all credibility right there.

This would be an abomination,
and people thought we were the red-headed stepchild now…
No Way MD Leaves the ACC
Especially now with Pitt and Syracuse coming. We would be THE Best college bball league in the world.

And soccer
And every sport except football.
Exactly
That is why I was so surprised to see this info. I am still counting on ND and UConn to join the ACC
No mention at all about their problems with business model, TV rights, etc
Which is why the Big 12 is a joke.

Indiana.
But I’ve wanted Big Ten membership long before that. It’s nothing against the ACC, only that if you look at this from a non-historical, non-emotional, purely financial perspective, the Big Ten would’ve been incredible for us, especially if Virginia or Pitt came along as was rumored. The academic partnership along with combining UMCP with UMB would make us one of the five or so elite public universities in the country, plus the extra TV money and payouts probably would’ve let us not cut a bunch of sports.

Big Ten
Amen Ben. Maybe if all this re-shuffling starts up again MD could end up in big 10 with ND
not sure they could justify the buyout price to the regents
$20 million dollars is the dollar figure to get out of the ACC isn’t it?
to me it's the only one worth it

I've said it before
they should just end this S and make a 60+ team conference – lol

Actually the Notre Dame part of this story isn't all that new
Back when conference expansion was at it’s peak and the Big East looked doomed. It was thought that Notre Dame would join the Big 12 for non-football sports, and even then some speculated that the Big 12 would accept Notre Dame and allow Notre Dame to keep it’s network deal in place.

No way MD leaves for the Big12
I think they stay in ACC… if not, then it would have to be Big 10
I doubt this happens, but if it does we lose some MAJOR rivalries.
Basketball won’t be the same and Football will be even worse.
