Nike's new "platinum" uni's targeting UA/MD?

Maybe not all that worthy of a Fan Post, but I know it got me a little hyped. Nike is coming out with a new "platinum" uniform for their most recent basketball affiliates to win championships for both men and women.

As you can see at the bottom of the article, the teams will be wearing them as a one time thing this season. Interestingly enough, all of the opponents represent either an Adidas or Under Armour school. Wouldn't you know it that they are targeting the most quintessential Under Armour school (Maryland) with two of the matchups. Both Duke and UNC will be wearing them against us when we visit their schools later this season.

Both have other matchups they could wear them in if they weren't going to wear them against a Nike school. They both face NC State at home, and UNC has Georgia Tech at home (Ridell, still... really?). Now I'm not complaining, I actually think it's cool. Not that I or anyone else should need more motivation to beat Duke or UNC other than for the sake that they are Duke and UNC, but it definitely fires me up a little more.

Nike isn't in trouble of losing the top spot obviously, not yet, but it's clear they are feeling the heat from Under Armour and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait for our team to not only represent our school, but those who represent our school as well. Let's get this win tonight for Gary, and let's beat them again down in Durham for UA.
