This is going to be my first major Terps basketball game that I will be going to. Gary's honorary ceremony makes the timing a little bit more difficult as far as arrival time. What time do you think I should be pulling into the parking lot by? Just trying to figure out when I should be leaving the eastern shore to get there.

it will always be horrendous pre-game, but its 20 minutes before gametime for garys unveiling… plus its always fun earlier since the student section is always pretty creative with signs and keeps things “interesting” in pre-game

That is what I was trying to find out. I didn’t know if the presentation was at 9:00, or 20 minutes before, or an hour before.

UMD Athletic Dept. email of a few days ago
states they want fans in their seats by 8:20. That suggests the presentation will be earlier than 20 minutes before tip-off.

First Game
First game that I ever went to was a couple weeks ago against Samford on New Years Eve. Been a Terps fan for a long time but just never been to a game. I’m thinking this is a once in a lifetime experience so I’m planning on cherishing every moment.

I too am from the “great” eastern shore. Lol. What part are you from? I wonder how many other people on here are from the shore.

I live near Harmony/Preston.. So I frequent Easton, obviously. Only 10 minutes away from it. Lots of great restaurants downtown.

I’m from Salisbury, MD. But i’m a sophomore at UMD. I always tell people i’m from Ocean City though, since they never heard of Salisbury, and it’s only about 20 min away anyway lol.

Alot of MD students from MD don’t know where salisbury is. They haven’t even been to Ocean City, but heard of there. I’m like you have to go through Salisbury (well at least on the bypass) to get to Ocean City so how can you not hear of it. It’s only the 2nd major town/city on the shore, next to Ocean City.
Plus alot of Marylanders not from eastern shore , have negative thoughts about the eastern shore, so maybe they just don’t care to know where salisbury is.

Why I remember Easton
Haven’t been to OC by way of Rt. 50 in ages, but know Cambridge and Salisbury from passing through them many times on the way. Easton I will always remember as the place I picked up 2 girls in their late teens who were hitchhiking and ended up driving them to the Easton jail, where one got married to her fiance who was in for stealing crab pots. They ended up staying in my room in OC for a couple of days. Fun girls, but not the lifelong companion type.

If you're driving from Eastern Shore,
then you might want to leave around 6-6:30. It takes me around 35-40 mins to go from inner-city Baltimore to CP and that’s w/o traffic. You may arrive early, but it’s better then missing the Gary stuff.
