Kris Jenkins
Why are we not reruiting him? He carries a good team witout Britt. All he does is win, and don't tell me that he is too big a 3 or too small a 4----He is a DC super player. Terps need an all around player like him. He is in our backyard. Where is D. Hill when you need hin----oh I forgot, he is out there driving. Is there a legitimate answer?

Telep
said he would be ideal for a very competitive Mid Major. Im not sure how well his game will translate into High Major ball. Probably similar to a Mosley. Mosley set the scoring record for MD by taking advantage of people in the paint with his size. We can see how he has had to change his game now that he doesnt have a size advantage.

He has a totally different game than Mosley. There are a lot on mid majors playing today that I would love to have
pretty sure Telep is a better evaluator of talent than any of us
Combine that with the fact that most of the local High majors havent offered and you will probably get your answer. 6’5 250 pound PF, ranked a 3 star, and 90 overall. He has three high major offers and the rest are mid majors. I will stick by Teleps eval from 2 weeks ago and say that he is a Mid Major player/star. A lot of players dominate HS at the PF position who will play undersized for all of their college years…. some make it and some dont. Same reason that PF on Montrose isnt getting that much love from High Majors. 6’5 and 6’6 PF’s arent going to cut it in the ACC.
MD needs BeeJay or Meeks… not Jenkins.

jordan williams was rated 89 and the #44 PF by espn
just sayin. not trying to take anything away from your point that its better to go after higher ranked players because more of them turn out to be better than lower ranked players. but it is possible that a player ranked 90 overall could potentially be a star. I trust turge and the assistants scouting players over any of the recruiting services… so whatever they decide to do is fine by me
Point noted
I totally agree with you. I should have explained my comment better. The 3 star 90 ranking isnt really the key factor. More of the 6’5 250 PF. Jordan had the height that this guy is lacking. Keep in mind though, even Jordan’s height was questioned at 6’8. Chances are 6’5 could be on the generous end…

yeah i agree that 6'5 is way too small for a PF in college
it sounds as though he could be a pretty decent PF, unfortunately we are already pretty good there and we need bigs. but if he grew 3 inches, i would certainly be ok if we offered
He's put up 30 in multiple games this year
High major offers are on the way. Also only a Junior.
I like Jordan Abdur-Ra'oof's game much more
I’ve watched them on TV two times this season. With a few more punds, and I’m going to guess growing an inch or two more, Ra’oof’s going to be a top 50 recruit. He’s Team Takeover…

PS - They beat DeMatha 76-74 on Saturday
http://www.thesportsfannetwork.com/videos/2530-boys-basketball-dematha-vs-gonzaga-1-21-2012/12691-gz-jordan-abdur-raoof-dunk/ – nice solid dunk
Jenkins played beautifully, with 6 3’s and 27 points. But I still think Raouf will wind up a bigger recruit

Agree with OP
On top of everything you said, he also has a smooth jumpshot. Looks like he will be a great 3 pt shooter in college.
I Second This!!
I’ve seen him play a few times. He’s a great player. Terps should definitely be in touch with this kid.
No doubht
JAR ends up more highly recruited then Jenkins. Kris is the type of kid that ends up at a VCU, Richmond type school. Then in about three or four years he helps knock your team out of the tourney as you say. WTF,,Damn!!
Jordans dad went to my highschool. Down the road I will see if I can get a scoop or two about his sons intentions.
i watched his brother play in high school
and his dad played in the nfl and set receiving records at umd

thx
You’re right about Kris too – doesn’t fit the body “mold” of a top recruit, but will kill a team in tourney someday.

6'5 PF?
He is way too short to play PF in a high major conference. He isn’t too tall of a 3 either, just making this point solely on height here. We’re bringing in a 6’9 SF, so that should of been enough for you to not even make that comment. He is way too short to play PF at the high major college level unless this kid is like Charles Barkley athletic. So, once you eliminate the 4 position that he currently plays, unless his game translates to the 3 position why would you want him? And then you look at team need, and we don’t need another SF at the moment. We have Faust, Parker and Layman coming in, which is enough of a logjam at the position.
Do we need a PF? Yes. But as Charlotte said, even though he is rated like JW, he doesn’t have the height that JW has.
yea
if he grew 3 inches and didnt add an additional 30 pounds I would be totally fine with adding him. 6’5 and 250 is exactly what fear da turtle said… He looks like he just came from a hot dog eating contest.
Like you said, we are set at the SF position. What we need is a true PG, a sniper, and a back to the basket post player. Good luck finding the back to the basket post player… we will have to beat out all the big boys for that.

Two words
Charles Barkley. Just playing the devil’s advocate. ;)
even Barkley had an inch or so on him
and as someone mentioned above, he looked like he just came from a buffet at the hot dog stand, so I doubt he is Barkley athletic.
Agree with Charlotte, he should be looking at playing a line position in football, at 6’5 250lb, he could put on a few more pounds and play DE in a 3-4
lets keep an eye on him
Saw him in person against Patterson and was very impressed.
He has a year to work some of the weight off and frankly, he could still grow.
I love the earlier comment about him being a guy who knocks you out of the tourney. Let’s keep an eye on him, it wouldn’t be bad to open up channels to Gonzaga.
