Alex Len--Lottery Pick!
Hey guys,
If you check out NBAdraft.net, the experts have already begun penning Alex in as a lottery pick in 2013. The website compares him to Kosta Koufos from Ohio State, although I think we all agree that should he stay in school another year or two, he will be much better than that, much improved, and ready to be a top-3 pick (let alone lottery).

Again, I marvel in the fact that we discovered this kid so late in the process, and that none of the other big programs knew about him. Says alot about UMD's reputation overseas, as well as our scouts.
Cheers!

Len certainly has the potential to be a lottery pick,
but I don’t see that happening until (maybe) after his junior year. He needs to bulk up considerably, and he needs time to learn the American game, and his role on this tea, His role will be considerably clearer after Cleare gets her, then he’ll need another year (his junior year) to really bossom. He, by then, have had enough time to add significant muscle, and to grow as a player, playing his natural positiion, PF.
I just cant wait
To have a 7’1" Power Forward next year. Our frontcourt should be pretty intimidating. Len is definitely an awesome get for the staff and his potential is literally unlimited. He could end up being a Dirk-esque type of player if he bulks up and works on his range. But then again he could be a total bust too and that’s a HUGE range of potential. He may be a lottery pick in 2013 but it would be a pick based strictly on potential because I don’t see him putting up the type of numbers next year where we say “That kid is a top 14 pick”. And he would definitely benefit from at least 3 years in school just to get used to the game over here. Regardless, I’m thrilled that the staff found him and he could be a big factor in the ACC for a long time. BTW, what’s the status of his injury?
if you are excited for a 7'1 PF
Just imagine having a 6’9 SF, 7’1 PF and a 6’9 C on the court at the same time. It is a nice option to have when going to a 6’6 SF and 6’9 PF (Padge) is “going small”
just considering the possibilities is disappointing...
considering we lost jordan and hawk in the same year. stoglin is on the verge of getting the ‘agent-in-his-ear’ treatment. Len easily needs another two years regardless of what he shows as a soph or junior. he’s more of a power forward than a 3. not quite dirkesque but similar. but he has a VERY long way to go as far as development.
I don't see Stogs going anywhere anytime soon.
Too small for an NBA shooting guard, and doesn’t have the mindset for PG. He may get to that point, but I fon’t see it happening soon.
I think Stoglin leaving next season is a definite possibility....
I’ve heard a lot of discussion that he wasn’t a big fan of school and might try to go pro early….If he ends the season as the top scorer in the ACC I think agents would def be in his ear and he could jump….I don’t think it’s that far fetched even if we agree that he isn’t ready. I think he’s more ready though than Jordan Williams, even though there is a lot he needs to work on.
As far as Len….This draft class will be pretty strong so I don’t see him going out this year…but if he is looked at as a top 10 pick in 2013 he will be gone for sure (I don’t see him staying that high though unless he improves a lot)

if you are referring to his tweets
what college kid doesn’t complain about there classes? I’m pretty sure that we’ve seen this before and the player hasn’t left early. I wouldn’t put too much stock into those.
Wrong-o!
Williams was more ready for the NBA that Stogs is or will be at the end of this season and look where that got him…D league. If he had stayed this year he’d have been in a better position and so would the team. Stogs can dream all he wants about the NBA because there’s no place for him…not unless he grows a few inches and also becomes a better defensive player.

Draft
Jordan Williams was not ready but it not stop agents from convincing him to go. Stogs needs to listen to the right people. The sharks will be circling.

Jordan Williams = cautionary tale

Was gonna say...
The same thing. It REALLY sucks to think of where the team would be had Jordan stuck around, however, his demotion to the D-League might make Stogs think twice about his ability to play with the big boys. So there may be a silver lining but if someone is influential enough to get him to declare before he’s ready then it doesn’t matter what the reality is. I don’t blame ANYONE for declaring and looking to get paid and make a living but how many dozens and dozens of players got bad advice, declared early, didn’t get guaranteed money and where out of the league within a year or two. A bad decision can ruin a life just as fast as a good decision can better a situation
Hoping this mock draft is correct
but not for Len to be a top 10 pick. Actually, I was just looking forward to the Wizards picking up Shabazz Muhammad and Hollis Thompson.
Dont even kid yourselves that Stoglin isnt already gone
i think he’s gone after this year.
I'm not going to say he'll definitely be here next year.
I think it would be a HUGE mistake for him to go pro, and I’ll go so far as the say he won’t see a minute in the NBA if he doesn’t come back next season.
