Welcome.

Best of luck.

Say no to Prince Fielder in 2012.

Monroe

I think Monroe could shine at DE but I would imagine there going to need him to play NG.

NG?

Isn’t it called a Nose Tackle?

speaking the truth . . .

already banned at GSP . . . why not here too?

Go fanbois!?

Rockin’ Randy says it’s a rebuild (in an unguarded, honest moment), board is excited to have a back-end ACC class (35-45 in recruiting service – huge improvement over where it was pre-Locks, but still nowhere near ACC top half), but you wanna jizz over hiring the DC from HOUSTON???? (not the NFL team, the college team that doesn’t play D)

I think it’s a great hire (already posted that), but it’s not gonna mean that this team carries its weight within the UMD athletic dept right away . . . let alone winning a bunch of games.

hopefully

he has the same recruiting incentives as Locks

Very Excited

I can’t wait to see a 3-4 defense at Maryland. Now we just need to recruit defensive players that fit this scheme. I’m willing to give Edsall, Locks, and Stewart 2-3 years. I’m not going to rush to conclusions like some of you guys did. Locks is a recruiting genious and Stewart is emplementing a defense that is not a defense that our roster is built for. I want to see them recruit their own guys that fit this defense and see what the results are.

Kenny Tate

Will we see KT being moved back to the safety position or will he still be playing the “star”?

by nikeezy on Jan 17, 2012 3:31 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I wonder if anyone even asked that.

by Brendan Plutschak on Jan 17, 2012 3:34 PM EST up reply actions

It was asked:

Per Patrick Stevens: Stewart wouldn’t bite on that question.

so apprently as far as recuiting goes he’s in charge of nothern VA and south florida, 2 areas i’m not sure what if any connections he has to (not that it really matters in the long run).

At least we get to stay “multiple” as we head for “transformitive excellence”

by SteelTerp42 on Jan 17, 2012 5:36 PM EST reply actions

How does recruiting work?

Are individual coaches put in charge of areas like salespeople would be? Weird he gets south FL and NoVA.

by db0255 on Jan 17, 2012 6:25 PM EST up reply actions

Yes, they're assigned geographic responsbilities (and sometimes individual schools)

Edsall does it so that they have a national responsibility and a local responsibility. For example, Lyndon Johnson is responsible for schools within the borders of D.C. (or at least was, pre-Locks) as well as Georgia and north Florida. Tom Brattan is responsible for the Virginia Beach area nationally and, locally, Good Counsel, and perhaps a few smaller WCAC schools. So Stewart’s local assignment is NoVa and his national assignment is SoFla.

Jeremiah Johnson and AJ Francis were talking on twitter about how they hope they run a 3-4

Jeremiah: I hope we run a 3-4
AJ: I would enjoy it… What I do best would finally be utilized for the first time since I’ve been in college lol

No More Coaching Changes?

So Edsall says the staff is set for next year at the end of that article. The changes have been great so far (at least in creating optimism for next season) but does that mean we get to suffer another season of poor special teams with LJ? Are we hoping he just had a bad first year?

by PDXTerp on Jan 17, 2012 6:56 PM EST reply actions

Rychleski update?

Was Ray let go in Indy when Caldwell was canned? Would LOVE to see him return here to coach ST. But Edsall prolly wants to keep his buddy Lyndon employed for another year…
