Maurice Shelton?

Does anyone know anything about the 2012 Offensive Tackle from Eleanor Roosevelt HS? I am close with one of his teachers who texted me this morning saying a Terps recruiter was in the school speaking with him, and Edsall also spoke to him on the phone today.

Sad to see Goldman doesn't have us on his final four list, but if we can nab Diggs or Darby I'd say we are in a decent spot.

you can never have too many linemen...

He has good size coming out of high school (6’3, 265lbs). Strength and technique can be coached.

that isn't good height for a tackle

that is more of a centers height, or a mobile guard

Yes

He’ll add more weight when he gets to college, but that’s a pretty good size for a kid in high school. Look at it this way, Eddie Goldman its 6’4, 300 lbs and he is one of the top DL in the country. This kid isn’t that far off from that.

That is a good height for a college tackle...

Considering there are pro bowl NFL tackles that are almost his same height now (and he will probably grow a couple inches), he can definitely play OT at the college level (based on size). But we can use the help anywhere on the line, so it doesn’t matter to me.

not sure about you

but probably about 95% of people stop growing (in height) by the time they are in college. I’m not saying he wouldn’t be good as a guard or center, just not the typical tackle size.

I would dispute your numbers...

But we’re taking about a high school kid, not college. I doubt he’s fine growing.

He's more of a offensive guard than tackle

His feet aren’t quick enough and he is not athletic enough for tackle. He looks a bit big at 265 so imagine him at say 315. Plus, 6’3 is perfect height for a guard, IMO.

I went to ER

and from what i hear from friends, RE himself was in the building. I would be shocked if he didn’t commit. He’s a good kid with lots of room to grow.
