So Mike Locksley has been relieved of his duties as head coach at the University of New Mexico after yet another in a long line of bone headed incidents. Apparently a 19-year-old kid borrowed either his or his sons car and was intoxicated and almost hit someone.
Now I know this would be an extreme long shot considering Edsall's reputation, but should Locksley be considered to be brought back to help us lock down the Maryland area in football the way that Bino and Dalonte are doing in basketball?
I doubt it would happen, and I'm not saying it should. But if you think about it, there is a way it could work. We could bring back Locksley as some sort of minor assistant coach and claim we are giving our hometown guy a chance to rehab his image and do right for the community. And with Edsall at the helm, he would be under a more structured system, whereas as the head coach he was left to his own devices.
I can't imagine he would have many other suitors at this point considering the way his last 5 years have gone. And I seriously believe if we had him this year there's a decent chance that one or two of the areas top recruits (Diggs, Darby, Jones, Goldman, Brown, etc) would already be committed to the Terps, Temple be damned.
What do you guys think of the possibility? Worth the risk or completely crazy?
