Dinich taking WVU by 7
Don't know if this is really worthy of a fanpost, as I'm sure everyone here was ready to bet Dinich would be picking against the Terps yet again, but she is going with a WVU 31 UMD 24 scoreline. Reasoning seems to include the stingy defense of WVU (which has been tested oh so thoroughly by the juggernauts of Marshall and Norfolk State), along with the QB play of Geno Smith, who is a good QB. However, there is no mention of Danny O'Brien, and she seems to indicate that Edsall's 1-6 record against the Mountaineers at UConn will somehow factor into how the Terps perform on Saturday. I do agree that the WVU defense will test Maryland more than the Miami defense did, but I think Maryland wins a close one 34-31. Any predictions?

In other news, this was a promising piece I found on ESPN
Seems the Seminoles are “comfortable,” in the ACC per their AD. I think if we can hang on to FSU, the ACC should be fine. I’ve heard the SEC is against taking another team in a state they have already established themselves in, which would obviously eliminate FSU, and that seems to be their only real option if they chose to leave. Still think if the SEC goes to 16, they’ll go a knocking in Tallahassee
dinich is an embarrassment
how the hell did she get her job? who at ESPN read her writing, heard her speak and said HEY lets make her a senior writer for a major football conference. what a joke

Possibly special favors
someone may have got special treatment or favors for her to have this job. I could do a better job than her. Sad part is that she probably thinks that she is a fantastic blogger. and you noticed that I did not say writer. Bloggers do not know how to write otherwise they are writing for a top newspaper or network.
Hey, how's it going
(WE’RE STANDING RIGHT HERE!)
I don’t think most are questioning Dinich’s writing ability. And going against what you said, Dinich WAS a writer for the Baltimore Sun and now works for ESPN.
Good writing ability doesn’t necessarily equate to getting newspaper job or job with a network job. Nor does having a job with a network or newspaper necessarily mean you’re a good writer. The fact is, there aren’t very many of those jobs out there. And even if you’re offered one, you might not be able to support yourself on said job. I know several good bloggers who have been offered jobs like that but have opted not to take them because their current job pays more.
why are we commenting about someone who is uniformed, pathetic, and dull
After this post, I will not comment on anything she write
WVU's offense hasn't really been tested either....
Gino is avgeraging 310yds/gm through 7 quarters….the running game is averaging something like 72+/-yds/gm…Against NOBODY!
Our defense has a chance to go to work on the ’eers this weekend.
I fully expect Gino to rack up some yards, but I also expect him to be on his back looking up at Maryland defenders a bit as well.
I also anticipate seeing the screen passes a lot.
BS
Just because the Sun and ESPN hired her does not make her an objective and creative writer/blogger. I work in PR and find that she does not cover ACC football very well and her articles/blogging is unispiring. To pick Maryland fifth in the division says it all.
My point was...
you insulted me, Ben and Ben and then attacked Dinich for her writing. Her writing is fine. Her ability to assess a team’s abilities in the ACC is what people were questioning. But what do I know, I’m not a “writer”…

with the posters you create.
I wanna see some The Hills Have Eyes posters. Some fried squirrel or rabbit posters. Some overalls and banjo posters, etc.

I don't mind people critiquing someone...
or even cursing for that matter. But don’t sit here and call someone like Dinich a bitch because you don’t agree with her opinion about something. I think she’s undervaluing Maryland and I think using Edsall’s record against WVU while he was at UConn is a flawed argument, since a). he’s not with UConn now and b). a 1-6 record has to do more with Edsall building a d-1 program than anything about his coaching. But that doesn’t make her a bitch.
you know what
WIN and we get respect. That’s it, its very simple. The more you win the more respect you get. If we win Saturday, the bandwagon is gonna be full with media clowns jumping on. Its not like MD is 6-0 and shes predicting NC State to come into our house and beat us by 7. WVU is ranked. Its an opinion. Shes entitled to it. When its blatantly obvious she is biased or stupid is when the whining should start. Now all we need to do is have our boys use columns like hers to get extra motivation, which i cant even imagine they need. WVU has stomped us so hard the past few times, we should be itching to get back at them.
This is very true,
and I’m trying not to let my overpowering bias interfere with how I approach “objective” writers for networks like ESPN/CBS/Yahoo!, but Dinich really hasn’t given us any respect for as long as I can remember. Last year we got no love from her throughout the year, and I’d say we were probably about the 3rd/4th best team in the ACC. This year, she picks Miami over us (understandable, and it was a very close game), and now picks WVU over us (again, understandable), yet has Miami taking down OSU and Clemson coming within a point of Auburn. This tells me either she thinks WVU is a much, much better team than both OSU (probably) and Auburn (maybe) or she still doesn’t think this Maryland team is for real. Honestly, I think this game can go either way, but I feel pretty good about our chances.
I hope every writer/blogger/twitterer
and Tom, Dick and Harry disrespect us the entire way to a 12-0 record. Winning does solve everything as BL said.

The crazy thing is 12-0 could actually be a possibility,
if we didn’t have that Oct. 22 date in Tallahassee. I think we have a great team and should have a great season regardless, but I’m don’t think there is any way we win that game.
I never was impressed with her writing and creativity. In fact, I find her overvalued and out of touch with the ACC. The fact is that I am not writing for a paper, blog, or a network. I would not want that job. This individual is the best ESPN can give us when it comes to the ACC Footbal Conference, pathetic! I am officially boycotting ACC blog, not worth reading it!
