Just a thought...
The original bronze statue of Testudo was moved to Byrd Stadium in 1951. This was followed by an undefeated season and a national title in 1953.
According to MD's traditions site the bronze statue was moved to its current position in front of McKeldin in the 1960s. In 1967, under Bob Ward, we went 0-9 (first winless season since 1892) according to these records.
Yeah we put a turtle back in the stadium in 1992, but think it's worth it to switch it out for the one in front of McKeldin? Spurious correlation? Am I just crazy?
