NCAA's APR ruling

Mandel published a piece on the NCAA's APR ruling, Maryland was mentioned...  

Conversely, the SEC would have qualified all 12 teams for bowl games this season -- despite its perception for not being big in the brains department. (Six BCS-conference schools missed the cut in 2010: Colorado, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, NC State and Washington State.)

Of course, this is an issue that Edsall has pointed to very early on...

"There's some young men as you well know that didn't play in the bowl game because of academic issues,” he said Friday afternoon before introducing his assistant coaches. “I've been addressing that very hard. I was a little bit shocked about what I saw from an academic standpoint when I got here."

Will be interesting to see how all this plays out in the next little while.  Is the NCAA actually getting serious?
