No this is not an official uni, yes this is my take, just so we are clear.
I wanted to do something cool with what the uniforms could be, since there are a lot of speculative visuals and wish-lists out there and no official uni yet, why not one more!
Below is the standard uni, with 4 alt jerseys in the next image. With the black jersey I wanted to do a true black out. Only color is the logo. The shell pattern, letters, and numbers would be in a reflective thread so it would catch the light on the black. Let me know your thoughts! Click the image for a bigger pic.
As I get a few mins here and there Ill be adding in some of the ideas below.
In response to a look more like the soccer uniforms with the flag, the below concept was born, thoughts?

Its a cool looking flag, love when they do the endzones with it too. Wanted to have it predominate somewhere in the uni, thought this would catch some eyes

Pretty awesome. I love the flag in concept, but I’d have to see it in person to know it’d work. Only complaint would be that the black and white are all black and white; I think some gold or red would help break up the monochrome some.

Looks like someone agreed with my flag on the thigh post. Imagine how that leg looks in full sprint – red, white, black, and gold blurring together. Makes our uniforms singular.
Red is OK but I think I prefer the gold jersey – maybe even with some turtle shelling on the back??? Man, we’d be some unique tortoises there.

but there is turtle shell pattern on the front pads and top of the back of the shoulder, also along the rib cage. click on the jersey image, the gold jersey shows it the best.

did you use a computer program to do this? If so which program did you use because if everyone on the blog could try and make their ow unis and then we voted on which ones were best that would be really cool!
I used Photoshop
I didnt go to a “build a uniform” site or anything, had to use a design program. Good idea though about having a collection of all the ideas floating around out there and voting on them.

Now I’m going to be disappointed when these aren’t actually the uniforms.
Thoughts:
1. Flag = Awesome… We have one of the coolest state flags, and I don’t understand why we hardly use it.
2. Helmet = Awesome… Now our white helmets look cool! I can understand if we want to use “MARYLAND”, ala black helmets with the flag, but “Terps” is who we are.
3. White uniforms… I actually love them because they look silver. So I wouldn’t add any color to them, but I would do a red stripe between the black/shell pattern on the black unis, with gold in the flag pattern on the shoulder. Black unis are the only ones that aren’t, as of yet, WOW!
4. Red socks look cool… All in all, pretty darn BA.

I’m wondering if you could work the flag in elsewhere, perhaps somewhere a bit more subtle … WR gloves, perhaps? Shoes? Helmet stripe?
How about the flag on the helmet?
I think it could be awesome incorporated with the Terrapin name.

never liked helmets that are a different color than any other major color on the uni. feels incongruous.

maybe the current shell helmet should be an option for the white/silver jersey

I have seen the new helmets and jerseys. The helmet is spot but they wil also be in red and black. Also the log will read Maryland instead of Terps.

Just like the underlay he has hear. So it looks like the helmet is a shell. Similar to Florida’s gator skin helmets from their Pro Combat jerseys last year. His helmet is spot on.

The flag on the pant is pretty sick
But that would be “too radical” for Maryland to ever do. I think putting the yellow/black part of the flag on one shoulder and the red and white part on the other would look pretty sweet. Kinda like the men’s soccer team does with the yellow and black on one shoulder (although the put the red and white design on the opposite pant leg)
I think those soccer jersies look terrible

that was my first reaction
but by the second time i saw them i loved them. if they sold the soccer jerseys i would buy all three sets

Quality work
You have some great work here and I think a lot of the elements on their own are really great, but trying to incorporate everything into one uniform set is too much/too busy. I think the pants are a little overbearing. That said, making the cut between the shell pattern shoulder pads and the breastplate into an “M” is a great touch.
What about varying the design focus with the color? So for one color you might go with the shell pattern as you have. For another color it might incorporate the flag instead?
Just a thought…

and will be looking to do a revision based on this concept of individual uniform vs combinations of jerseys and pants… more along the lines of focus.

what if...
you take out the pant leg flare and put the black/gold checkerboard on the other shoulder? im loving your helmet design and the red jersey and pants, not too big a fan of the gold white and black jerseys but definitely a huge improvement over what we saw earlier from Haroon Brown’s twitter

Beg difference between MD and Oregon-Oregon has a great football team.

When you are an average program the only thing you can do is change uniforms. The elite programs focus more on acutal on field performance and have not changed uniforms in decades – tradition. Oregon is light years ahead of MD in football.

you do not like the football program. All I ever see is criticisms of the program. Why not give at least 3 positives of the Terps program in response to my reply?

Who the f*@k is claiming UMD to be an elite program?
Certainly no one on this board. We are Terp fans, but realistic. Maryland has not been a dominant program since the 50’s, but all programs with “tradition” have to start somewhere. This is a fan site, and if you want to disrespect our school, then please do us a favor and don’t waste your time or ours. Move on.

Bad Comparison Anyway
No one is comparing Maryland to Oregon in terms of on-field ability. This post is about how with Under Armour’s founder being a Maryland alum that Maryland should have better uniforms and different colors like Oregon has with Nike.

I went to MARYLAND, and now live in Oregon. I have to see and hear about the Nike duck uniforms ALL THE TIME. Nice to see something terp related in the same vain.
