BeeJay Anya holds UMD offer

Hey guys so it looks like Turg and the crew are already on the way to sinking hooks into a few of the Top 25 players in the 2013 class including BeeJay Anya as reported by the post, it also seems as though he is attempting to slim down for college. Anyways take a peak!

Here's the link:

"There are some more schools," Anya said. "But I can’t think of them off [the top] of my head."

All it takes is one look to see how BeeJay Anya has changed.

Anya started losing weight this past school year, redefining his physique as he shed fat and added muscle. The rising junior center at DeMatha, who stands 6 feet 9, now weighs 278 pounds – 30 pounds lighter than he did one year ago.

"Oh my gosh," Stags Coach Mike Jones said, noting that he has spent part of the past week watching game video from last season and sees the change in Anya’s figure. "It’s like he’s a different person."

Anya said that his weight loss is the result of working out daily and changing his diet. He said his travel-team coach, Keith Stevens of Team Takeover, weekly brings him a bag containing pre-made meals for each day of the week, with plenty of chicken, turkey and vegetables. He has cut out dessert and has not eaten fast food in more than a month.

"Everywhere I go, someone says, ‘You’re on a diet, you can’t eat that.’ "

As for colleges, Anya says is wide open. The schools recruiting him hardest, he said, are Maryland, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Florida, Ohio State, UCLA, Texas and Kansas. All of those schools have offered scholarships.

So after reading all that I am very impressed with his will to get into better shape, without losing any of his strength. That is a very long list, but personally I like the fact Maryland was mentioned first and foremost. Still competition, but I think if we bring in a strong 2012 class he will more strongly consider UMD.
