Dave Telep recently tweeted this:
Keep hearing that Shaq Goodwin is adamant about playing football and hoops in college. Some schools are concerned about the 2 sport option
I know Maryland has some interest and Shaq also has a little interest in MD. I know his recruitment is a long shot, but this brought up a question I have been wondering about. What is everyone's opinion on 2-sport athletes at major D1 schools?
Goodwin is a big-time basketball prospect, unanimous 5-star, top-15 prospect. Apparently he is also pretty good at football. Both Georgia and Tennessee have told him he could play both sports if he played there.
How much does everyone think playing 2-sports hurts your development/success in both sports? How good would a recruit have to be for you to take them knowing theyd be playing both sports over a recruit just a little bit worse/ lower ranked that is fully dedicated to one?
