#EhsanForHC...Picking Up Steam
The fan base really is pushing for KA to give Rob Ehsan a shot. Twitter is FULL of #EhsanForHC tags all over the place...and the latest post from one ERIC HAYES. Now if past and present players can get behind this (i.e. Mosley, Vazquez, Neal), the guy might actually get an interview...which he would absolutely KILL. Got the next Brad Stevens on our hands right here on campus and KA doesn't even realize it.
ROB EHSAN FOR HEAD COACH.

ROB EHSAN FOR HEAD COACH AT UMD. DON’T SCREW THIS UP KA!
Ehsan would make a great head coach
How old is he?

i didnt think i agree but i think he would too
im pretty sure hes only 29
I have emailed Kevin Anderson
Despite the fact that he’ll never read it, I have let him know why Ehsan should be our next head coach. If you are interested you can read it here.
I may be wrong but
Stoglin is on board!

Dan Hellie has tweeted
that Ehsan has been told he won’t be interviewed.

First off, I understand where it’s coming from. And it even makes a little sense. Kind of.
Also, I feel a little guilty for creating this hashtag and, thus, a monster.
I know some people are joking about this, in which case carry on. But the guys who are serious about this…really? Have we struck out on so many people that Rob Ehsan is our best choice? Dude graduated college six years ago, has five years of coaching experience, is 29, and hasn’t gotten a sniff of a job elsewhere, even for low-majors. Hell, UC-Davis (his alma mater) had an opening last year and he didn’t even get an interview, at least that I know of.
Of course players like him. But since when was that all-important in a search? You think everybody loved Gary? Ehsan is 29 and the “cool coach” – of course players like him over some random dude from Texas. That’s not an indication of his ability to command respect when he has to tell Stoglin to stop jacking random shots. And for all of his recruiting chops and how much he gets mentioned, he’s only landed us Ross (who then decommitted for reasons unknown) and Stogs, for whom we were easily the best offer.
And for those thinking this is saving face, it isn’t. Since when is jumping to Plan Q saving face? It’ll be painted as Anderson giving up and getting tired of being turned down. The ACC will laugh at us. The nat’l media will ridicule the hiring of an assistant who isn’t among the Springmanns and Collinses of the world. And I think a large number of fans will be at best apathetic about the future of the team with Ehsan. That doesn’t mean it won’t work, but if “saving face” doesn’t play into the hiring of Ehsan at all.
E$ may be the next Brad Stevens. Or he could be Bob Wade. No one knows which. Guys like Turgeon, Buzz Williams, Steve Alford, Mark Fox, Lorenzo Romar, and Randy Bennett are still available and would be fine hires. I think a lot of the reaction to #EhsanforHC is people thinking that no one is left, and there still are.
I love Ehsan. I think the world of him. Retaining him on the next staff is crucial. As he develops his coaching acumen, he’ll become a star recruiter and a HC somewhere, probably in the UC system somewhere. We’ll see what happens from there. He’s a future head coach. But not right now and certainly not right now for the University of Maryland.
If we want to go for the “Young guy who is a risk but would keep the status quo with recruits and players” at least go Chuck D. He has a year or two of experience down at the Citadel, players know him, he’d retain Ehsan for sure and probably Bino, he’s an alum. I hope it doesn’t get to that point, but at least he’s been in charge before.

What about Gibbs and JA though?

Gibbs said he'd stay if Ehsan says.
Ben, I look at it this way. With Mark Turgeon or most of those other guys, you pretty much know what you’re getting, which is an above average coach, who will go somewhere between 20-10 and 22-8 every year, consistently make the tournament, and probably never get out of the sweet 16. That’s all fine and good, but if you take a chance on Ehsan, the sky is literally the limit. So is the chance to have him here for 30 years. You’ll probably keep Bino and probably keep the team and the recruits (plus Cleare and the Harrisons from all indications).
Now, let’s look at the worst case. Ehsan flames out, and we go 10-20 the next 3 years. Now you ditch Ehsan, and start another search (in late March/ early April) and probably don’t bring in anyone worse than a Turgeon or a Buzz Williams. You set yourself back 3 years but at least you went for it and gave yourself a shot at greatness which isn’t something you’ll get from Turgeon.
I slightly disagree
Turgeon could go further here than at A&M – better infrastructure here… I would say the jury would be out on your opinion. But past history shows no coaches get Major Conference gigs w/o ANY HC experience for a REASON. That is PAST HISTORY…btw, why didn’t Pastner dominate a weak conference last year with all his talent? Because it’s hard to take young players and instantly win, especially when you’re a young HC…

the guy is 29
look, Rob just needs a few more seasons as an assistant coach, then he can go and try to prove himself at a smaller school, and after that we’ll probably need a coach. He is too young and inexperienced. It’s like calling a guy up from the minors to the major league before he’s ready…maybe he’ll be a great talent one day but you might shatter his confidence and development by jumping the gun.

get a big name coach
keep bino and ehsan
ditch booth
bring in another stud assistant
is this too much to ask?

I'd ask for more -
Try and lure a connected local HS H Coach of a strong team to be Director of BBall Ops…after 2 years, that strengthens local recruiting too – I own’t name names, but we know the usual suspects…

thank you.
The only reason I would accept Ehasn was if Gary gave him an absolutely glowing recommendation.
So...
If we strike out on 3 or 4 more guys, you’d rather have some middle of the road coach who’d change the entire groundwork of the team before getting fired, or Rob Ehsan who would keep Gary’s system in place for the most part, so if he doesn’t do well theres no harm done?
It’s worth a shot. Obviously, guys like Turgeon take priority. But if we get to like a Mark Gottfried type hire, Ehsan would be a far better choice.
Don't fight it
If Ehsan were to get the job, you can take the credit for getting it started!

Hey man, I already got something trending
Let’s just take this one step at a time. It’s already a success as far as I’m concerned.
Ehsan
He’s been told that he will not be interviewed. He’s unfortunately got no shot at snagging the job, let’s just hope that the new head coach retains him.

Maryland assistants (Booth, Ehsan, Ranson) are in limbo during search. Interim coach Ehsan is well respected but not candidate for head job.
Another tweet, which I can’t find at the moment, said he will not be interviewed.
If you haven't read already
I wrote a blog about my opinion on this matter, http://camdentocollegepark.blogspot.com/2011/05/looking-ahead-towards-future-of.html feel free to comment.
Just emailed KA.... Ehsan should get the job
I just emailed KA… Rob Ehsan should be given the opportunity to coach the team. He’s young, energetic and seems like a budding star. He’ll keep the same players / staff / recruits in place and can lean on Gary the first couple of years. I would MUCH rather have him in the drivers seat than some lame middle of the road guy we get from another school. This is our shot to produce our own Shaka Smart / Brad Stevens type guy… someone who could be a legend over time. Don’t be dumb here, take a chance while you can. Rob Ehsan for head coach!!
Completely Agree
I did the same thing last night, I am all for the Rob Ehsan for HC movement. Take a chance, it could pay off big.
This is real life
You can’t just roll the dice with your whole basketball program because of some short -sighted fantasy about having the next Brad Stevens
