A moment of pause, reflection, and thanks
Like everyone else on the site, I've been caught up in the drama of the last week or so. It's actually probably a good thing I've been traveling heavily for work so I don't have as much time as usual to poke in on TT.
One thing that struck me today while waiting for another delayed flight is that TT is an awesome (for the most part) community run by great and talented moderators. The two Bens and Dave are not "professional" journalists by definition. Personally, I think the depth and quality of their writing would easily compete with and beat much of the writing put out by the so-called pros. We need to step back and realize that these are guys like us, with other, regular 9-5's, lives, and things going on. To get the quality of writing, coverage, and analysis that we do in the quantity that we do, is impressive to say the least.
Additionally, I think that the community at large does a great job contributing to the Fanposts and shots. I rely just as much on that little bar on the right as I do the main page. It really does lend to a complete atmosphere and one where you can really see the love that fans have for all things UMD. I poke around on the SB sites for the other ACC schools, and they don't hold a candle to our writers and fans. I'm from Boston originally and know what a passionate fanbase looks like - in my opinion, us Terps rank right up there with the best.
So, kudos to you, TT "management" and community and thank you. Let's take a second to step back and realize that no matter what happens with Turgeon's new staff, next year's team, the 2012 class, football, or any and all things Terps, we have the best fans and this here is the best site!

Broman is amazing!
And prolific too.
I think the coverage is better here than the typical write-ups we get in the paper and on the main sites. One reason is that there is no limit here. He can write as much as he wants. And he writes to an educated audience (I mean, we all went to MD, right? no…just kidding…by educated I mean that we all know all the players on the team, who the main recruits are, the history, the coaches, etc.). Those articles in the main press are often presented to a wider audience…and let’s face it, most of us are a little bit over board in terms of our following of the team.
TT Rules!
When you guys are like me, (checking TT every 10-15 minutes throughout the day) you know its awesome. Thanks Broman, Tucker and Goldstein for everything you do to make this my favorite place on the web.
Thanks guys
It’s been a blast covering this. Tough, but fun nonetheless. More importantly, the community response has been amazing – the posters and commenters are such a huge part of what this site is, and I’m proud that such a collection of people are found here. Well, except for maybe w2bb. (Ok, maybe even him too.)
And thanks for mentioning the 9-5 aspect of it. I know a lot of people forget that…sometimes even I do.

Agree
I have been watching this site for years before I signed in with a user name and I have seen the quality improve significantly over that time. I, as an “older” reader (and person)don’t always understand the sky is falling mentality of some of the posters here, but I do understand the passion that exists among those folks. If you have been following college BB for as long as I have ( I remember watching Obrien, Elmore, McMillian, Lucas, etc and the UCLA dynasty) you realize that there is an ebb and flow to the sport. We have enjoyed much success at MD over the years with a few down periods mixed in. There are very few programs that have consistently performed, on an average, the way MD has over the years. I know there are statistics with win -loss %, etc, but overall MD in my opinion has been a good program near the top year in and year out. Always competitive, maybe not NC caliber, but competitive with ANY team on a yearly basis. Just look at the history of some of the previous “powerhouse” programs and look at their fall from grace. Indiana, Houston, UCLA, even the Tar Heels fell off the map for a while. Duke will as well when K retires. Michigan State was supposed to vie for the title last year. NOT. My point is that this site offers a place for people to voice their opinions and frustrations and that is good up to a point. Realizing that there is a an ebb and flow to the sport will hopefully temper some of the sky is falling attitude and knowing that we have enjoyed great " overall" success is a blessing. I would say without getting statistical that we have been a top 30-40 team at worst every year for a long time and that is saying something when you truly look at the big picture of the 350 div 1 schools who compete in basketball. Yeah we probably could have been “better” but I am happy to be a fan of a consistently competitive program that has been good on a regular basis. Even in the down years you knew it was gonna get better soon. I feel like it will get better soon now as well. True fans are in it for the long haul.

Thanks guys
This site has really blown up the last year and that’s all because of you guys. Like abaek mentioned, lots of the great content from here comes from that sidebar on the right. It’s actually gotten harder to break news on here because there’s usually a Fanpost up instantly.
Again, thank you. You guys are the ones that make this community awesome.
