Around SBN: Despite Relocation Drama, Coyotes Overcome Adversity

Another night of NBA playoff action

with a bunch of local players making a huge impact.  Gary Neal essentially pulling the spurs victory from the jaws of defeat and Keving Durant just showing everyone why he is most likely the best player currently in the NBA.  If not the best you can argue top 2-3.  Also of note.  Ty Lawson had a good game at point for the nuggets.  GV had like 2 points in ten minutes.  He most likely wil never be anything more than a backup behind conley after all the money they threw at him last yr.  The only thng missing is if rudy gary was tearing it up.  I know I dont need to mention it, but the only one in that group that played for their local school was GV and he didnt even grow up in the area.  As I have stated before.  If you are a coach in the DC area.  you dont need fancy jets to recruit....all you need is a car, some gas, and an attitude that shows you are willing to work to get recruits.  or you could just send your assistants all day.

on another topic....as Is stated weeks before....Jordan to the NBA was a lock....and actually I expect him to be drafted in the immediate post lottery period.  good for jordan and while he may not be ready for the NBA by Gary or other peoples standards.  nobody can fault a young ADULT getting paid millions and also having the opp to go back to school and get their degree if they so choose.

Also, dont kid yourself with wally judge.  How many DC assault players have ever played for gary?  stats dont lie.  stats dont take sides.  they are what they are.

Another irrelevant firegary post...

And another [not so] subtle jab at our head coach.

How about you post something original for once?

The DMV produces the best bball players

in the country. It is crazy how many studs we produce year in and year out. Never understood why wedding crashers said “crabcakes and football …. thats what MD does.” It should have been “crabcakes and basketball… thats what MD does.” Guess that would have meant they would have had to play a pick up bball game instead of football but it would have been more accurate of a statement.

Who cares about bball right now though. We arent going to get a commit today… its NFL DRAFT DAY. Lets go Skins. R.I.P Sean!!!!

I gotta second that!!

Let’s go Skins!! RIP #21!! Please don’t take a QB tonight :-(

Everyone knows

Maryland is a hotbed for basketball talent. Everyone knows UMD struggles to land the states top prospects. Everyone knows GW rarely goes after “1 and Done” kids, local or not. Everyone knows kids like to go AWAY for college. Everyone knows GW runs a clean legit program and kids won’t be able to “get away with” things they will at other school$. Since when do you have to be a great recruiter to be a Great coach or run a successful program or win a National Championship?? Bob Knight, was he a great recruiter?? Or just one hell of a BBall coach who won games? Would UMD be better off if Curtis Malone and Mike Locksley were the head basketball and football coaches?? I mean, we’d be able to recruit locally, yippy…still doesn’t equal wins!! Would you of praised GW if he landed say, Tyler Thorton last year instead of T Stoglin?? I mean Tylers local right?? Yippy!!

FireGary

I don’t measure Gary’s success based on NBA. if that was the case Kansas would be better than Duke.

I like your posts, I like how you rile things up and some of your points are valid but bringing up Neal is a real stretch and time to move on.

why not bring up how we missed both Curry’s or any player who ever had success in a lesser conference?

So keep posting brother, keep keeping this board honest but be honest yourself b/c then you sound like the fool.

the curry bros.

are not from maryland….in my opinion greenberg should be fired for not missing steph, but not landing his brother after seeing the type of success steph had. neal went to calvert hall and last night hit a more meaningful shot than any former terp has in yrs. he is local, didnt play at maryland, and that is why i brought it up… because everyone should be sick of seeing it

Neal

wasn’t that good of a recruit. there was no reason for Gary to go after him. he isn’t one that got away like Gay. it’s a stretch.

Gary Neal....Really???

Kevin Durant, Carmelo, Rudy Gay, and now Gary F’n Neal. Do you know the story of gary Neal??? The kid went to Lasalle where he was recruited by who? Billy Hahn…yeah, that Billy Hahn. Hahn had a great class that season. Neal, Jermaine Thomas from Frderick, was a nice PG, and a versatile 6’8" big, i think was named steve smith. Unfortunately for Neal and Hahn, some girl got raped, allegedly, and Neal was involved, and Hahn may have pulled a Jim Tressel. Hahn gets booted, as does Neal, and Neal ends up at Towson. Now hes a 26 yr old rookie, and you’re going to fault Gary for not signing him. Your ignorance never ceases to amaze

first off

never give me a history lesson…..I forget more than you will ever know.
second he was not convicted of anything.
third allegations have not stopped people from clamoring for born ready or tyree evans
fourth the point is there is another local player making a serious impression on the nba who did not play at maryland. is there even disputing that fact.
also I include even second level nba players like ty lawson….because unlike blake and GV, he is actually good enough to start. again, is there disputing that?

Blake DID start in the NBA

For multiple years with Portland, and he will most likely start at PG next year with the Lakers.

Greivis is a rookie, Lawson did not start as a rookie, and Greivis could very well end up starting, who knows at this point.

And stop talking about Gary Neal. NO big time programs wanted him. If we recruited him and signed him, everyone would have been complaining about us getting a kid that none of the other big time programs want.

There are diamonds in the rough all over the place that big time schools miss, UMD is not the only one.

I will continue to give you history lessons as long as you continue to apply selective history to your flawed arguments

and no, you will not forget more than I ever know

By the way, there was a reason I used the word “allegedly” in the above, because no, he wasnt convicted- hence “allegedly”

Born Ready and Tyree Evans

BR: Didn’t have any criminal problems—just his amateur status was in jeopardy because of the bornready.tv bit that was filmed and produced

Tyree Evans: I don’t think ONE person was “clamoring” for him on this site. If anything I believe the prevailing sentiment was “big talent but…oh boy…in Gary we trust…I hope he knows what he is doing with this kid.”

I don’t mind you’re having a different opinion or your outright disdain for Gary…have at it. But your demeaning comments towards everyone on this site and your babyish “i told you so”’s. Why are you always trying to pump yourself up??? Are you trying to compensate for something FG?

I do like the NBA playoffs but… Testudo Times Bloggers: Can we just ignore this guy? The next time firegary writes a fanpost just ignore it and don’t comment.
