Chris Singleton

Good news... Chris Singleton will enter the draft and forego his senior year.  He also intends to hire an agent.  This was reported by Adam Zagoria and FLRecruitScoop.  This is good because FSU will lose their best two players in Singleton and Derwin Kitchen.  While it weakens the ACC, it could possibly help MD climb us the ACC in ranking, assuming Jordan Williams returns, if he doesnt return for MD it wont matter because we will be a bottom feeder in the ACC.  It also means that one more big man will be competing against Jwill.  Singleton has a much higher ceiling that Jwill in my opinion and would most likely be selected ahead of Jwill.

In other news the Vegas Summer league has been canceled which is the first real sign that a lockout is looming.  What the hell is America coming to?  The gov't was almost shut down due to budget conflicts and there might be an NBA and NFl lockout.  SMH

I can do without both.

As a Cowboys fan, I’m not eager to be disappointed again. And the NBA is a joke. I say, take as long as is needed to get rid of the 1-and-done rule(3 yrs. minimum IMO)…it’s killing both the NBA and NCAA.

As much as i would like to see the quality of play increase

I have a hard time saying kids should have to go to college for at least 3 years (or play overseas) before they can enter the NBA. If somebody is ready to play in the NBA, it doesn’t feel quite right to me to prohibit them from doing what they love and are best at. You can enlist in the military at 17. Why should you have to wait until you are 20ish to be able to play in the NBA? I understand many kids need the time to mature, but i would really have a problem with a 3 year rule that stops people from earning a living and pursuing a dream. Imagine if Lebron had to wait three years after completing high school before he could go to the NBA. College isn’t for everybody. I’m not necessarily opposed to the one year rule, but i would certainly be against a three year rule. To me, three years definitely seems to start to infringe on people’s rights at that point.

Middle ground.

If kids like Lebron, Kobe and KG are ready to play in the NBA straight from HS then let them. BUT….if you decide to commit to a college because you don’t think you’re quite developed enough to play against men when your 18, then I think that commitment should be a minimum of 3 yrs. It’s fair to both sides. The current NBA D-league is a failure, those kids should still be in school, working on their games AND a degree if their NBA dreams fall flat, which unfortunately in most cases does happen.

We have to understand is that

just like in baseball you have the minor leagues, and this is where the NBA came about the D-league to offset this issues about kids leaving early and such and not really ready for the grind of the professional level.

Honestly I would love to see this rule to exist, just b/c everyone is so caught up in the hype of having a certain number of stars labeled to your name or having to enroll to certain amounts of AAU games to be recognized (and this pretty much kills the team concept of basketball), it’s more about having the me-first environment and lacking some basic fundamental.

Now regarding the military I believe you still have to 18 to come into the military but at 17 the parent(s) or guardian will have to sign consent forms in that regards so as soon as you turn 18 off ye go!
