Keep it classy, Maryland
There's been a lot of discussion lately regarding Jordan Williams leaving for the NBA draft. Understandably, many are upset and worried about potentially not having JW next year, and rightfully so. Without Jordan, we will probably be projected to finish bottom half of the ACC next year.
That said, please refrain from directing this negativity towards Jordan. It's his life, his decision. He hasn't even declared for the draft yet and nasty allegations are already popping up. Not to single anyone out, but one commenter referred to Jordan as a "quitter". After everything Jordan has done for the program, it is inexcusable to minimize his contributions and question his effort. JW proved his work ethic when he came into this year 30lbs lighter and, y'know, made 1st team all-ACC as a sophomore. These sorts of accusations are embarrassing for Maryland, frankly.
We all want Jordan to stay, but as Maryland fans we have a responsibility to stand behind our player. You don't think he's ready for the NBA? Go ahead and say so. Just don't personally attack the guy.
On a related note, I'd like to turn this thread into a pro-Jordan Williams zone. Do your well-wishing, "Jordan please stay!" begging, and favorite JW moment reminiscing (with Scheyer posterization GIFs a-plenty) here.

DING DING DING DING DING
No matter what Jordan does, it’s his life. If he wants to go pro, it’s his choice. Acting like he owes the team, the University, or (most ridiculously) the fans anything is nothing but absurd.
People are personally messaging him hate?
That ain’t right and neither is calling him a quitter. However, I stand by saying that if he goes pro he is making an incredibly stupid decision.

if you search for his twitter handle, everything that unlocked accounts have been tweeting to him pop up. it’s embarrassing and disgusting what some “fans” are saying to him. as you mentioned above, whether we agree with the decision or not, it is HIS decision. it angers me to see so many entitled fans. after all, he is a 20 year old boy who was one of the few bright spots on a not so great season. hopefully the real fans will flood his twitter timeline with positive messages.
a lot of it seems positive from what I can see

there is definitely negativity
A lot of “Maryland will shun you if you leave,” “enjoy the d league,” “enjoy playing in Europe,” “don’t act like you care about your fans” type stuff. I saw someone actually tweet “not like it matters because this will be Faust and Stoglin’s team next year anyway.” I’m sure Jordan is used to the constant “haters,” but he doesn’t need anyyything else pushing him over the edge.
I laughed at the one about playing in Europe. Inappropriate, but funny.

Thanks JW please Reconsider
Jordan You could end up possibly the best big man ever to come out of the university of Maryland and with our in coming class i can see #1 in the ACC. Also you would be the ACC player of the year as well as the Wooden award winner we need u here Jordan you will get better money in a year or two!!!!!! Just 1 concerned Terp Fan
Don't play with MY TERPS
What about his dunk against UNC Greensboro?
I mean it was against pretty weak competition, but Jordan still threw it down with authority. Great play
I agree 100%
We as fans shouln’t be angered. Hell, David Pearman has had more of an impact on the actual program than any of us; it isn’t our place to say negative things.
But I do disagree with you at this point,
After everything Jordan has done for the program
Just wondering, what has he done for this program? All things that come to my mind are personal achievements.

Are you using the HTML or the odd SBN system?

Not sure. I just pressed the quote button before and after I write
The thing I don’t understand is how to end the quote and write something after it.

Try doing the HTML yourself
Put whatever you want quoted inside of this <^blockquote><^/blockquote> (without the ^s). Only use it once if you are quoting a large excerpt or multiple paragraphs.

In response to your question
I wasn’t so much referring to specific achievements. I was more referring to the fact that he has invested more time and effort into the program than any fan can claim.
But if you want to delve into specifics, being a key piece in the 2009-10 season comes to mind. We don’t beat Duke and aren’t regular season ACC champs without JW. Bottom line. Also, he pretty much carried the whole team on his back all year. That certainly counts for something.

A lot of fans, have been putting a ton of money into the program for more years than J Will has been alive , so I would not exactly say that. I get your point though, he has done a lot for us over the last two years.

Who would say no to a million dollars?
Hey, if he can get a guaranteed 1st round contract, it would be tough to say no. And I would send him my highest regards and wish him good luck!
But there are other things to consider. (College degree, winning at MD, advancing his game in college, etc.) I think, perhaps the biggest reason to stay at MARYLAND is because there will likely be some sort of work stoppage in the NBA. Might as well stay in school at least one more year.
1 million aint that much these days
He may need a college degree……that may be worth more than a million!!
I'll trade you
my degree for $1 Million

No shit
Same here. I’d take a million, invest wisely, and consider starting a small company.

Cold, Hard Stats
With NBA Rookie slots, nevermind CBA difficulties for next season.
1st Round – picks 30-21: salary slot – 850k to 1.08 Mil; picks 20-11 – 1.13 to 1.77 Mil; picks 10-1 – 1.86 to 4.28 Mil.
If a player believes they can improve further to move up to the next slot, the player basically will get paid for their extra season in college (example – pick 25 to even 15 (outside of lottery pick – 925k now to 1.44 Mil), improve certain skills they receive feedback on from NBA scouts, and have another fun BMOC school year.
But we all know everyone’s personal circumstance is different. I hope for JW that he makes the choice that works best for his career long term. Once a Terp, always a Terp…
