Was looking through the wonderful world of twitter and came across a Dave Telep Tweet. The 2002 MD team is THE ONLY team to win a national championship without at least 1 McDonalds All American since the McDonalds All American program was initiated. The 2001 Duke and 2009 UNC team each had 7 when they won.
Thoughts?.... obviously the higher level of talent you recruit equals wins. The McDonalds program began in 1977. That is 34 years ago.... Not really the greatest odds for teams that dont recruit All AMericans. 3% chance of winning.
So that leads to the ever so talked about need to land higher tear recruits and the McDonalds All Americans that come from the DMV that somehow slip through our fingers. We currently have 0 all americans on our team but I truely hope that this can change in the next year or so. I would imagine Justin Anderson would be a McDonalds All American and Chris Thomas definately will be one so Im saying there is a chance.....Faust wont make it id imagine.
Basically if you dont have an All American you chances of winning the big dance are as low as me dating Jen Sterger... better than winning the lottery but not very promising.
Ready set go..... let the argument begin.
