The Last Game of the Year
Ok, I know there has been a fair share of controversy over the whole student game participation issue. I'm not here to talk about that. Coming up next Saturday is the last game of the year at home. Its Senior Night. While we all may see the game in different lights, I know that these seniors deserve to be sent out of comcast with a bang. So I am coming to all of you to tell your friends, roommates, classmates, whatever, to come out and support the team next Saturday. Hell, it will be great way to get ready to go out that night. Whatever our differences are, we are all terps, we all are members of the same community. So next saturday, come to the game, be loud, and let's end the season on a high note.
Go Terps

I agree!
But let’s clarify…
The last regular season game of the year. Because we are gonna be making it deep into the NCAA tournament.
Get it done, Terps!
Yes!
I know a lot of fans may be a bit pessimistic right now but show up and support your team and your seniors (and if you’re mad about them at least show up for Dino).
I know our chances our slim but if we win our last two games and two more in the tourney I think we still have a shot. The committee pays closest attention to overall wins and that would put us at 22. 1st through 4th in the ACC are all but locked up. The all important 5th spot is still up for grabs.
Clemson is 19-9 (8-6) with a game at Duke and a home game against VT. The Duke game will likely be a loss and the way VT looks now hopefully that will be a loss as well but even if they win one that will be 20-10 (9-7) however we have the tiebreaker. Clemson’s RPI is 69 with a SOS of 98.
Boston College is 17-11 (7-7) with a game at VT and a home Wake Forest game so they’ll likely end up 18-12 (8-8) with an RPI of 46 and SOS of 18 right now. We should finish ahead of them if we win our last two however they have a pretty respectable RPI and SOS which will help them but they’ll still have to do reasonably well in the ACCT. If they upset VT they would have the tiebreaker though so that game is crucial for us (it’s tomorrow night btw…GO VT!).
The Miami game makes me nervous since we don’t play well against them for some reason but we still have a good shot of finishing 5th. It all depends on how the other bubble teams do and our RPI isn’t great at 83 and SOS at 72 (still better than Clemson at least). If we finish ahead of BC with 2-4 more wins that will be a huge boost as well. Chances are slim but I’m still holding on. Our biggest weak point is no signature win. Sorry i had to get that out. Thinking through typing is good sometimes…
Athletic dept just sent out email claiming they’re giving out free pizza to the first few students, free shirts, and there are a bunch of raffles going on also. It’s kind of a shame that they feel they have to do that in order to get people to show up on senior night (day).
I didn’t get this email because I already have a ticket but my friend showed it to me.
The admin should keep their free pizzas and t-shirts
and give us back god damn Rock n Roll Pt II

Students screwed that up!
Maybe you weren’t at the Duke game but they were going to play it as long as the students didn’t say “F*ck Duke” but they did it anyway.
That's Not True.
The school was never going to play RnR Part II at the game. They lied to you. The only way they would allow that is if we said “Go Terps!” instead of “You Suck!” which would never happen. Maryland’s front office put a big X on that plan before anybody said fuck Duke.

That's what I thought. The admin is still trying to de-nut the fan base.
We’ll be UVA-like in a couple of years, and that’s a Loh-down, dirty shame.
The head of the SGA told the first students that rolled in that so if that’s true then the SGA lied which seems unlikely.
He specifically promised that he convinced admin to bring it back (w/ no qualifications). Then the band played it and they tried to get people to say Go Terps instead of You Suck. They didn’t play it again after that. Has nothing to do with F Duke. Later, for the FSU game, they played really loud music over the speakers while people were singing RnR pt II (usually the band just plays a simple beat.) Maybe because the head of the ACC was in attendance. Sure helped subdue the crowd though, which is what everyone was complaining about in the other threads.
Also, Glickman lies all the time.
okay guys, here's how it went down
many of you know that i know exactly what happened here, the rest of you just have to trust me. glickman does lie a lot, but i don’t.
1) glickman did convince anderson to bring R&R pt 2 back (it actually didn’t take much convincing)
2) a couple days before the game some higher up in USM (board of regents member most likely) killed the idea unless they could switch “you suck” to “go terps.” glickman was informed of this less than 48 hours before the game.
3) R+R was never going to be played during the duke game, but if people didnt say “you suck” there was a chance they’d bring it back for wake. it had nothing to do with “f duke” it was about “you suck”
4) glickman was instructed to say the “go terps” thing to the students when introducing the song at the pep rally but he knew R+R without “you suck” was pointless so he didnt say anything.
5) as a result there was much confusion about what happened and why the song wasn’t being played and whether or not there was a deal in place.
as for what apoc said, they were telling people whatever they could to get people not to yell “f duke.” overall we did a good job there, and athletics was satisfied. you don’t want to know what they had in mind if we hadn’t cooperated with that. so yeah, the SGA probably lied to you about that to get you not to say “f duke.” i cant really blame them.
also, not positive on this but i dont think swafford was at the Duke game. he was at the FSU game though.

I DO want to know "what they had in mind if we hadn't cooperated".
BTW, it’s 2011 and the phrase “You Suck” is pretty tame compared to regular language on television or in, say, cameron indoor stadium. Seems like you have some inside connections, keep pushing for RnR PT2, I think it would energize the fans better than ridiculous pre-game pep rallies. Too bad it’s too late for this season.
the first thing would've been that zombie nation would be gone
beyond that they were talking about doing cheer sheets and banning all signs. also heard that anderson wanted to have the ushers remove anyone they noticed using offensive language. i dunno if they were actually serious about going that far and i haven’t spoken to any athletics people about it myself, but this is what i’ve heard.
R&R pt2
I personally think its better if the fans do it instead of the ban. I just want the bad to stop playing when we do it.
