This has been mentioned on the site before, probably about a month ago, but I have never seen any actual information linking MD to the recruit.

Alex Kline (Therecruitscoop) tweeted that "MD and Xavier are now expressing interest in 2012 Brewster SF Jakarr Sampson, a former St. Johns commit."

While Alex is a tier B form of information at best, he usually is in the same ball park. I would say that this information is accurate. A few months ago it was reported that MD was at Brewster not only to visit Mitch McGary but also to look at Sampson. This was right after it was announced that Sampson was decomitting.

My thoughts: This would be a HUGE get for the program. Sampson is a 4 star 95 overall prospect. He is not ranked among the top 100 due to him being in prep school. He was a 2011 prospect but reclassified to 2012. He would be somewhere in the 40 range, similar to Shaq, if he was a true 2012 prospect. He is a tweener. 6'8 200 pounds. Exactly what MD needs to be honest.
