I saw this
and thought I’d leave it to you our of respect. But what does it indicate? The team standings show the Terps 9th. Is that a legitimate place for us to have finished particularly without Asper & Gentry? Or should we have expected to finish higher?
I was optimistic for some higher finishes
But this is, by far, the toughest tournament the Terps will see until Nationals.
Christian Boley taking 3rd is a pretty big deal, though.

9th is solid
The Midlands has been around for 49 years and is one of the top tournaments in the country. There are around 45-50 teams in the field so 9th is not bad at all. Especially considering the level of competition. 10 top 25 D1 teams were in attendance this year, as well as 40 top 8 wrestlers (about 4 wrestlers in the top 8 in each weight class).
Wonder where Asper was?

Fairly certain he got hurt during the Nittany Lion Open.
He defaulted out of the last consolation match ahead of time. Possibly dealing with a continuing injury.

Hope he’s back soon. Although with Fittery at 165 a NCAA title run will be tough for him.

Fittery is a post-grad, so no need to worry about him...
David Taylor on the other hand is a sophomore and seems to be head and shoulders above all other 165s.

Taylor is a beast
That loss to Jenkins in the finals last year may be his last in the NCAA.
Dude MAJORED Fittery this year in a tournament and beat him by 6 last year as a red-short freshman.

I didn’t realize that Fittery was post-grad. Seems like I’ve heard his name a lot this season. Is he really only doing open tournaments?

That would be correct
