I posted this elsewhere but I think it's worthy of a fan post:
Our Athletic Dept. has turned to LivingSocial to sell basketball tickets for the Illinois game. I understand that we are in a rough spot financially but personally, I think this is pathetic. I am getting emails from friends blasting our school and talking about how far the program has fallen. I wish they would realize the negative public perception from doing this outweighs the few hundred extra seats they might sell (we are halfway through the day and they have sold 50 seats). I can understand this sort of thing for football, there are 60K seats to sell and sellouts at Byrd are rare. But for our proud basketball program, it just is kind of sad. What are other peoples feelings on this?
