Regarding Sam Cassell Jr.
Ok let me just start this by saying I am not questioning Turge and I understand the importance of bench depth. With the threat of Stoglin leaving after his junior year a very real threat I can see him playing eventually but not immediately. But...I am just wondering where Jr. fits into the team compared to higher ranked recruits. Now don't eat me alive for saying this but I don't really want this guy. He seems like he could explode but until he does I don't feel comfortable giving this scholarship away. Cliff Tucker had that little probable where we thought he would always break out and really catch fire but he had inconsistent performances. That of course is on the college level but I always worry about "sleepers." I really like Graham especially because I really think we need to use Dalonte to his fullest extent but with Allen already locked up I don't know if Cassell is a better option just because of his position. Mitchell I think is our most legitimate option to land top 100 talent left, I think. We should go all in for him and worry about guards after that. I hope my ideas are similar to yours and that you see where I am coming from.

I wouldn't mind taking him
But not until we see where Graham is going. Could we take both? Probably, but I really don’t see the point in taking Allen, Graham and Cassell in one class with all the options at guard in the 2013 class. And I obviously want Graham over Cassell, so I would hope that we are telling Cassell, “we want you, but wait a while before you make your decision.”
Jr's on the cusp
but I’d still keep trying TG hard too.
ditto on aholla’s probable scenario (we hope)…

agree
And definitely time to lock down Mitchell. Priorities = Mitchell, Graham, Cassell, in that order.

If memory serves...
Didn’t we get Amile, grant, and layman in together to sort of force someones hand. Maybe this will get torian o pick up the pace.
If he wants to come we take him
Plain and simple. He wont come if Torian Graham commits so you dont need to even consider that scenario.
Please dont bring up Raylew52 like he knows what the hell he is talking about. That kid throws darts at a dartboard blindly hoping one will stick so he could say I told you I would hit the board. "L7 WEENIE"

BOOOOOOOOOOOOTH
In other Baltimore hoops news, Keith Booth has taken a job as an asst at Loyola — for the women’s team! Too bad he seemed the odd man out when Gary left. I thought it was odd that he did not show up Friday night for the alumni game at MM. Hopefully this will be a stepping stone for him to get back to the big time.
Save the scollys for the big men
Carter, Mitchell, McGary. You can’t teach height. Just like Gary said at halftime during the NC game last year. “Well, we can’t grow during halftime”.
graham would be a great fit and a better fit as a pure shooting scoring 2. cassell jr may develop into THE ONE, and help open the door for baltimore and invite a few donations from NBA dad. if he really wants him, then this could be equally a strategic longterm positioning move as much as a player on the court move.
i would say focus on the twins. and save for a necessary big man. whoever that is…stoglin leaving isn’t written in stone. in fact it’s a longshot. he is really good, but this year there are bonafide shooters around. i don’t know if he’ll get to shine as much as last season where it was sometimes 3 on 5.
I checked Scout and Rivals to see
where Cassell is ranked – without luck. I must be overlooking something?
just espn - been posted before

Arthur Edwards, a small forward in 2012, from bmore who plays in ct lists md as a school who has offered along w Miami, Texas, va, Michigan, USC, etc. 2 star on espn ranked an 80. This is the first I have heard of that.

Anyone have any thoughts?
Didn’t think it was worth creating an entire post on Edwards. I’m not certain if it’s 100% accurate.

Some situations are clear-cut:
Few, if any, Terps fans would consider getting 4 & 5 star athletes – MM, Carter, AJ, Mitchell, for example – a bad thing. Others, such as Edwards and Cassell are less clear. In those situations we have to trust that Turge has a plan and is working that plan. Sometimes a coach sees something – generally an intangible – in a player that doesn’t show up on a scouting report. Juan Dixon was a 3* recruit, but Gary noticed a quality that few other coaches saw, and it worked out well. If Turge sees something like that in Edwards, and feels like he’s worth the cost (a scholarship) then he should go for it.
Doubt that is accurate
Often times recruits list high major schools recruiting them as a way to make a name for themselves in hopes of other schools coming out to take a look. I doubt this kid is a 2 star, grade 80, and has offers from all of those schools. ESPN would have to wiff on that pretty bad (worse than usual).
