Obviously both of UMD major athletic programs are going through transistioning periods right now. I believe the football team was left with more from last year's success then the basketball team and I believe this is why there is more hostility towards Edsall and Co. lack luster performances. Also, basketball has yet to play a game and has had much more time to get their hands around the program and get them established then the football coaches.

With the success that Turge & Co. is having on the recruiting front for the basketball program and the fact that his press conference blew my expectations of him far away, I think that the basketball program will have a much quicker turnaround then the football. Not to mention Turge is not dealing with any NCAA violations or penalties that Edsall is dealing with because of the Fridge. Turge has a much more experienced coaching staff and I believe they complement each other far greater then any combination of the football coaches. Turge might even suprise us all this year, no expectations in my eyes, but could show us some sparks. I think after this year the basketball team is going to be back as a top 25 team annually.

Football on the other hand has a rebuilding process they may stretch out to far for Edsall to be successful here. By no way, shape or form am I calling for him to be fired. I am simply stating the obvious and he is been dealt some cards that are hard for anyone to play with in addition to his non-player friendly ethics and code of conduct. Which I completely agree was desperately needed. Bottom line, Edsall needs to evaluate his OC and DC coaches before next year and maybe make some changes there first. I think the "Edsall" type players will come, but UA and Kevin Anderson are asking to much and too soon. I also think Edsall may have bitten off more then he can chew with the expectations. I hope some local talent gives MD a shot and helps bring back some top 25 football play to college park.

What are your thoughts and expectations on the basketball team and Turge, also what are your expectations for football and do you think Edsall can turn it around within the next couple of years?
