UConn Alum Here In Peace
Figured you might have questions about your new coach. Anything you'd like to know in particular, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer any questions you have. I need to fill this thing up to get it to seventy-five words now, so I shall quote Longfellow below.
"Build today, then strong and sure, With a firm and ample base; And ascending and secure. Shall tomorrow find its place. Unable to find the end zone once in the last 8 quarters."

I'd ask a question
but the Edsall hire put me to sleep.
Why do you guys keep saying he Downgraded?
MD Football>UConn Football. He’ll have a lot more talent here.
Dear Passionate fan, I know you are passionate, but please reply with a logical answer or I will ignore you.
Talent Yes. Not On Much Else.
Obviously I’m biased but…have you seen UConn’s facilities? I know MD’s are good, but UConn’s are also very new.
Plus, the guy isn’t really a good recruiter. So that makes it tough to go after the talent. He didn’t even get many top 10 recruits from Connecticut.
And, while it was hard in the early days, the truth is, he didn’t really try, either. Even lately. It’d be one thing if he put offers out on all of them and got rejected, but he just didn’t pursue kids if he thought they weren’t going to even consider UConn.
(Sigh)...

The Princeton Review rated our facilities #1 in the nation.
At least that was what I’ve heard from many people.

As for recruiting, he had NR players in the early going, but has evolved to two, three and even a the occasional four star recruit. This season, he has all two and three star recruits committed, with recruits coming from Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, and Mass. Last year he recruited these areas as well as Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York and New Hampshire. Prior to that, add recruits from Texas and California. I’d say he has done a great job considering where he was trying to recruit to. The most impressive thing about the negative comments regarding his recruiting, is that he won the Big East twice with his recruits…..so, either he recruits well, or he is one heck of a football coach. Maryland should be an easier sale than UConn.
Yeah I mean, no offense but,
who wants to goto UConn? Maryland’s a lot easier to sell to kids from Pa which seems to be where he recruited. I doubt he won’t be more aggressive because he knows Maryland’s a lot better sell. He’ll be able to recruit 4-star guys.

I mean did he really have to though? He knew what he had.

Sweet
that’s the exact mentality I want from a coach charged with taking us from “above average” to “great”.
That's not what I meant and you know it.

Yes.
The only thing they had at their disposal was Fairfield County. Been playing really good HS FB there for years. Lots of kids who went to ND/Syracuse/BC/Big 10 schools, especially on the line.
Only one he ever got was Dan Orlovsky. In 10 years.
Won the Big East Twice, yet this was their 1st BCS appearance???
If he won it twice, why was this their 1st appearance in a BCS bowl? You keep using that to defend this hire, when the botttom line is he won the Big East tie this yr via way of a tie-breaker at 8-, and finished tied before. Its not like he dominated the Big East at any time with a 10-2 record. he went 1-16 againt ranked teams. You cant spin that.
Who Cares....Really
It is not like he struggled in the Big East with an established Syracuse, Louisville, Pitt or West Virginia. The guy took an unknown football program, at a historical basketball school, and transitioned that program from Div I-AA and won two Big East Championships, whether they were ties or not….he still gets the titles. Who would have ever predicted that he would have reached that level of success 10 years ago? Spin it how you want, but you can’t take away what he has accomplished. The guy can flat out coach, and has a fantastic resume’ and pedigree. What I CAN spin, is that Fridge has had FOUR LOSING SEASONS out of his last seven! Time to GO…..one season too late!
You Will Not Be Retaining Terry Richardson's Services
Oof. This guy is a good coach, too.

Maybe thats why he's going to Miami...
Because KA is paying Locksley the big bucks to come be RC here.
Locksley is def not an Anderson kinda guy

That would be awesome
it would definitely do a lot to assuage my concerns.
You Also Arent Getting Joe Moorehead, Edsall's OC
Desmond Conner of the Hartford Court has confirmed that Michael Nebrich is still going to UConn, and that Joe Moorehead said he isn’t leaving UConn unless the new UConn coach gets a new OC.
Our athletic facilties are ranked #1 in the country by the Princeton Review...
Our football stadiums capacity: 54,000 Uconns:40,0000
Our basketball arena capacity: 18,000 Uconns:10,000
Uconn doesnt have shit on our facilities.
Different type of facilities
Princeton Review is talking about campus gyms.
UConn has an indoor practice facility. Does Maryland?
Ahem.

I know Byrd Stadium had the recent renovation (which I believe you need more butts in seats to pay off, right?). But Rentschler Field is newer.
Also, I can understand why the Comcast Center matters for football. Makes total sense.
Yeah...
…our football facilities are nubs. It’s definitely a problem. And we’re way behind the ACC in that regard, and apparently much lesser schools like UConn. We need the Kevin Plank Football Training Complex. Put it all where Shipley Field is and build a new baseball stadium by Comcast.
Edsall Bringing No UConn Assistants With Him
According to John Silver of the Journal-Inquirer in CT.
