I love Edsall. I go to UMD, but I'm from CT so I've been following him his whole career. He's a strong recruiter and a solid head coach. I know his W-L record is less than impressive, but he took a D-1AA program with no talent, fan base or budget and turned them into one of the better teams in the Big East. Given the resources Maryland would give him, the talent of the current roster and current recruits, as well as a much more talented state to recruit in (CT is not a strong football state, by any means) I think Edsall could be great in College Park.
He's had two running backs finish in the top three in the FBS in the last 4 years (Donald Brown, Jordan Todman), and he's never had a good QB at UConn. So given his success in the rushing game, a good QB in DOB, and talent from DJ Adams and Davin Megget, plus his ability to coach a good defense, the Terps could be a force next season.
He made UConn into a solid program with no budget and little resources, so who's to say he won't succeed with the talent the Terps have plus a very good QB in DOB?
