If you were drafting a possibly realistic coaching staff, who would it be?
Mine would be:
Head Coach: Mike Leach
I kept going back and fourth on this one. I like Malzahn but I picked Leach because he's less likely to leave and his offense probably meshes better with the current personnel
Offensive Coordinator: Robert Anae
Despite his time at BYU, he's actually a prolific recruiter, he doesn't have the local ties, but he did a great job recruiting for BYU. If we're not going to get a good recruiter at HC, we'd need one somewhere on offense. Plus he also knows Mike Leach's offense from their time at Texas Tech.
Defensive Coordinator: Don Brown
His system is complex, but with the right personnel it works and I believe it is a championship caliber system. Plus he's a good recruiter.
Assistant Head Coach/Running backs coach: Mike Locksley
Recruits the DC/Maryland area very well, let's get those recruits coming to Maryland. Not much of a head coach as evidenced by UNM's awful record against terrible opponents.
Offensive Line Coach: Mike/John Tice
I didn't originally plan to go this far into the coaching staff but I wanted to include either Tice brother. Both brothers are alumni, and both are very good offensive line coaches, plus over the last few years our offensive line has shown it needs all the help it can get! It would probably be easier to get John Tice since he's currently coaching offensive line for New York Sentinals for the UFL, I imagine Maryland might be a ste up for him.
