Maryland Minute 7.9.10 - More Target Reviews From King City Classic, HoopGroup

More Jabari Brown From Cleveland
Still impressing:

Jabari threw fire today, plain and simple. He shot the ball better than anybody I saw. He has a quick release and ice water in his blood as well as the desire to take big shots. That said, everyone knows he can stroke it. He also displayed the ability to get to the rim a little, or pull up from mid range.

LaQuinton Ross One of the Best at King City Classic
We talk about a lot of people, but LaQuinton always gets left behind for some reason. I don't know why, he's pretty good.

The long and lanky swingman, often plagued with injury, delivered on his much talked-about potential. He used his size and mobility to score inside-and-out and more importantly, he defended the perimeter. Maryland, Ohio State and West Virginia are following him.

ZagsBlog.com – Harkless Rules Out UConn, Impresses at HoopGroup
Maybe he'll see a rankings boost. He might be in the running to fill Maryland's wing spot.

The 6-6 Harkless was named Most Outstanding Player at the Camp after a tremendous week in which his mentor said UConn was no longer in the running for his services. "UConn is offically out of Maurice Harkless’ recruitment," Nate Blue tweeted. ZAGSBLOG first broke the news of Harkless’ decommitment last month. This week he picked up additional offers from DePaul and South Florida, to go with Memphis, Rutgers, St. John’s, Maryland, Arizona and Xavier. "He’s the best player here and he’s one of the better ones I’ve seen in a [while], he’s got it," former Syracuse star John Wallace told Blue.

Rush The Court - 20 At The Top: ACC Player Rankings
Jordan checks in at #16.

One of my soon-to-be household names from last Friday’s column, Williams instantly transforms from role player beside Greivis Vasquez and Eric Hayes to the number one scoring option in College Park alongside Sean Mosley. After averaging a near double-double last season in his freshman year- including 15/11 against Duke and 21/17 in their NCAA Tournament win over Houston- my money’s on Williams being able to carry the load both scoring and on the glass.
Personally, CJ Leslie (#6), Mason Plumlee (#8), John Henson (#12), and arguably Dorenzo Hudson (#15) are a tad too high, especially considering J-Dub outperformed both Plumlee and Henson last year. Other than that, not a bad list.

Bruce Campbell Signs Deal
No specifics that I saw, but good to see him getting a deal done.

Lakers are "Better Off With Blake"
It looks like Derek Fisher is leaving LA, so Blake will probably be the starter at point. At least one guy really seems to like that.

Blake

Will no doubt make the Lakers better. Can’t wait to watch him play alongside Kobe!

Blake Article

Uh…. Did anybody notice this from the Blake article:

“Back in college, Blake found a way to lead his team to a championship, despite having no NBA-bound players in the roster. He’s so good that he can make an average player look good.”

How many years did Juan play in the lig? Chris Wilcox? Ummmm…seriously?

I find it SO hard to believe

that Mos will not be one of the top 20 players. To me, if he plays as well as he did at the beginning of last season, he’s top 10.

Mosley

Should def be in the top 20, and Williams should be top 10. They don’t know that these guys could have had larger numbers last year, especially Mosley (he differed a ton to the seniors), we just had a bunch of established seniors who needed touches, which included our best player, Vasquez.
I’d put Mosley around #18 and Williams at #8 or so.
