Did You Not Like Steve Yanda? Well, He's No Longer the WaPo's UMD Beat Writer
He's now UVA's beat writer. Liz Clarke will cover Maryland sports. No word on Prisbell, which is a shame; he was the worst, but Yanda was okay.
As for Clarke, she used to cover Georgetown, and NASCAR before that. Guess we'll get to learn more about her as time goes on.

I dislike Yanda more than Prisbell
And I’m pretty much singing “na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, good bye” right now.
Second that
Yanda’s lack of accuracy was surpassed only by his lack of integrity and total bias. Good riddance.
Don't forget
his insistence on using overly complex descriptions and words to describe something that happened during a game. Talk about not knowing your audience. I’m not saying people reading the sports page aren’t educated, I’m just saying most sports fans I know don’t want that in a game recap.
The funny thing
Is that hack beat writers like Yanda and paid subscriptions services that don’t deliver anything more than hope/hype are steering “the smart money” to sites like testudotimes-good free online content, from a fan’t perspective, up to the minute news and good commentary. In the end you guys win!
Settleten has a good point. I haven’t read the Post or gone to their website in years. Sites like this one offer specific information for people that are looking for specific content. Frankly, I had grown tired of the Post’s continued denigration of Maryland’s sports programs, especially basketball. To be sure, some criticism was warranted, but it was also clear that it had become personal with Yanda, who sought to make a name for him by distorting the program’s record and sensationalizing some of the more mundane nuances of recruiting. It got old, as did the double standard of how Maryland’s program was portrayed compared to Georgetown’s. Regardless, the former intern has been shuffled off. Maybe Prisbell will be next. We can only hope.
One thing
I should make the point that I would be on testudotimes every day even if the Post did a decent job, or if I had a rivals subscription. Its just that testudotimes is so good, you can easily ignore the others. Matt Bracken is good stuff too though.
I think there's room for all of us
Everyone brings something different. I’ve always said that we have a different “product” than everyone else; we could all fit in.
