6/25 at 11:54 am: sunjeffbarker: Maryland said it confirmed Yow's hiring with N.C. State. Yow will be made available to the media in a conference call late this afternoon.

Looks like it's official. Still a little shocking to me but if any place had a chance to pulling her away from Maryland, it was NC State. More to come following the 2:00 PM press conference.

Do you think...

…that the fact that she won’t have to shop for a new wardrobe to match the school colors factored any?

She will love MOO U

Since she was obviously lying about her correspondence to the job at NC State, I also hope she was lying about MD’s role in expansion. Could it be that she spoke in arrogance the other week when she said that SHE would be the main decider of what MD would do as far as conference expansion was concerned and that the President (although he would ultimately make the final decision) had NEVER gone against HER wishes before? There is a new President coming in, and does it not make sense that in this day of total college athletic upheaval and change that the AD of ANY university would be so bold as to say SHE was ultimately making a decision on conference affiliation that not only affected the athletic program but also the research opportunities of a great university such as ours would be foolish! Why could she not have made comments such as Ga Tech, Clemson, Va Tech, or even Miami that said they were indeed “happy” in the ACC and leave it at that. Why was she so determined to put it out that we would NOT be interested in ANYTHING the Big Ten would have to say? Could it be that she knew where SHE was going and it would not be in the interest of NC State or any other NC school to suggest that we would even listen to an invitation?

Maybe the new President coming in did not appreciate such arrogance and media responses such as the ones she made. Maybe he has already made that perfectly clear and it was “suggested” that she hit the road. I appreciate all of the things she has done in her time at MD but maybe in this “time of change” that it is in her best interest AND OURS that we have someone different and that she goes back to her NC roots?
